Greetings, I have used Google photos for quite a while and it works very well. It allows you to share across all of your platforms easily. I use it for small groups and I'm not sure how it would function with large groups but it seems to be much easier than Flickr which is what I used to use.

I have had no problems at all and it is the easiest way to share photos. It is especially good for cell phone photos. The initial backup is slow and took a few days...

Have been using Last Pass for 2 years and it has been great. I finally have secure passwords for my important sites. You can use it for automated logins or you can create a secure document with user names and passwords.

The articulating screen is extremely helpful! I would not want a DSLR without one. Although I rarely use it, it is very helpful when needed. When? Positioning the camera close to ground level for wide angle shots. Holding the camera overhead when you need to shoot over something (walls, fences, cars, peope, etc). Tripod shots of family and friend gatherings where I want to be in the photo myself and be certain everyone is framed properly! I use a remote trigger for these. These are all important shots for me even though they come up infrequently. The Yosemite photo in my ID was taken with the articulating screen and the camera hand held close to ground level using live view. I could have gotten flat on my belly for that shot but I might have never been able to get up and certainly would not have shot as many different angles as I did!

The articulating screens are very tough and not very fragile. I imagine you could break it off if you really tried!

I am neutral on the touchscreen. I always have a thin screen protector film on the screen.

I have used ACDSEE for years and prefer it to LR and all the others. It is remarkably fast because of the way that it deals with thumbnail images. The cataloging follows a simple windows structure and works with all images in your computer. It does just about everything LR does. I particularly like the light and color equalizer that works like a graphic equalizer sound board. You pick any area in your image and can adjust that particular brightness level or color by dragging up or down. Most people on this forum prefer LR but I think ACDSEE is more intuitive. Printing is also simple from the program.

Get the 18-140! It is smaller, lighter, sharper than the rest. I have it and the 55-300. The 55-300 is much harder to hold without a Tripod and I only use it at the 200-300 range. It's not nearly as sharp as the 18-140

Just be careful. I did this on my computer not realizing that I had many photos with the exact same file name. Apparently my nikon was set such that after I formatted my storage Card, it started labeling the images at the original starting point! The same thing happened with images transferred in from an iPhone. Luckily I caught it in time and learned my lesson!

I just purchased that lens. I watched all the stores for awhile and in general the price is the same everywhere. The only sale that I ever saw was at best buy for 179 around Christmas. Otherwise it is around 199. Refurbished is not much cheaper. Go local and support the local retailer if the price is right...

If you are using a photo processing program then copy/paste or drag and drop may not work as you may leave editing side car files behind. In that case you need to use the photo editing program to send the files in the appropriate format to the thumb drive so all edits will be included. Every program is a little different...

Also watch out for the wifi which will drain the battery but only when the camera is on.

Thanks for all the comments! I will try a different camera app to see if that helps my LG G3. I use Snapseed that is pretty good for in phone processing. My images just pale in comparison to my wife's iPhone 6 plus... I don't want a mirrorless camera because of the suze; my dslr is fine for that need. I think that I will likely pick up a Samsung s7 on black Friday and try to remember to keep the lens clean... Thanks again.

Greetings all. I am trying to figure out if I want to spend the money on have a new cellphone with a better camera (currently have a 3 year old LG G3 and am not very happy with the camera but the smartphone is fine) vs getting a decent compact camera. I have a dslr which I am very happy with but want something small that I can run with. Any thoughts about photo quality in a compact camera vs smartphone? Also, any thoughts on the best android smartphone camera? I am interested in the Samsung Galaxy s7. I have read lots of reviews and still am undecided. I realize that the best camera is the one that you actually have with you and that would likely be the smartphone camera if it is half way decent. My lg G3 photos are mediocre at best.
