I'm trying to get a feel for what type of quality of photos I'm taking. Still testing the waters to decide if I want to pursue photography full time. Thank you for your rating and any feedback you might be able to offer!

you appear to be at the beginning of a subject that you have potential at. Keep taking lots of photos. Pick the best and have them reviewed by other advanced amateurs and go from there.

I was referring to no "female" heelers. All the heelers you show are male with the females being "headers". Both are "ropers", the steer needs to be roped by both horns and both rear legs and then stretched to a standstill before the time ends, its a timed event so speed as well as accuracy counts. Only one hind legs will cause a 5 second penalty to be added to the total time.

You are correct in that I did not see any female heelers. I would think that any of the woman I saw could have handled this position.
Do you know of a web site that would show the rules concerning this event?

What? No heelers??

Some of the photos show the Heeler. I wanted to high light the roper in this series. It was a great event to watch. Non stop action for 2 1/2 days. Great riders and beautiful horses.

Don't 'the girls' also jump off their horse, throw the calf to the ground & tie 3 of the calf's legs together?

Or, is that a different event?

Thats a different event.

This was a roping competition at Fort Klamath, Oregon, August 9,2014. Great roping on a beautiful day. The ladies really knew how to handle the rope and did a great job.

Any one have any tips on getting good moon photos with a camera (no telescope)?

My biggest issue is that they still look a little too exposed no matter the shutter speed I pick.

I am using ISO 100, F22 and have tried differing shudder speeds and exposure adjustments. am wondering if maybe a filter would help get more details.

Any suggestions?

I do not have any examples, cause I deleted all my attempts, and have not tried again recently.

I would suggest spot metering just on the moon. If you meter on the whole scene with the dark background around the moon you will get an image with the moon burned out and no detail.

Like the composition very much. if the lighting on the mushrooms was a little better they would stand out from the background and the photo would have more interest from my perspective.
