I'm trying to get a feel for what type of quality of photos I'm taking. Still testing the waters to decide if I want to pursue photography full time. Thank you for your rating and any feedback you might be able to offer!

For a portrait study I would rate this a 7. I would have cropped in a bit tighter and changed my angle to a bit lower than eye level. The colors are good and the young girl does have a beautiful smile which is always pleasant in a portrait. Don't be afraid to pursue your dream of being a professional or you'll wind up 72 years old, like I am, wishing you had.
No rating. Good quality photo. Great kid. interesting crop might help.
Good luck.

Move your feet more see the angles and change in visual information.
Good luck.
Thank you very much. So you're saying you would've kneeled down lower than the girl so it almost looks like we are looking up to her?
Thanks Tom! Really appreciate it.

A very nice photo - maybe a 7 if you really want a rating. Most comments are good - I would either take the picture with the camera in a portrait position or crop it as such - loose some of the background.
No rating, but the one thing you did do was to blur out
the background. seperating the background from your subject
which is how it should be.
Stay with it .Photography will enhance your life.
I don't think I would shoot up at her. The kind of rule in film making is look up at the person in the more control situation
and down if you are in control. Speilberg does that subtly.
I think you should do many shots with different looks and
compare yourself.
The gentlemen who wanted "shallow depth of field" was right on. Shallow DOF is the movie magic trick. the difference between most video looks (every thing is in focus/flat) and the film look is just this the bokeh or blurred parts of the frame.
Good luck again.

Nice shot. A question tho. Why have the girl facing forward and the eyes looking to the right? Just wondering. Also, I would crop to a vertical. Just my thoughts. As I said nice shot. Please post more.
I love photos that have drama and tell a great story. This one DOES NOT. There are snap shots and there are great shot. This one is the former and not the latter. practice, practice, practice.
good luck.
Bijan can you add more info? What would you have changed? What makes a photo dramatic to you? Thank you for your feedback. I really appreciate it.
I am still in the learning game here. I already had many shots of her facing camera and thought I would try a different approach is all:)

If you don't have the fever, then you're not ready yet.
7 on your shot, that's a good picture.
