I Printed from Lightroom, Photo Printing, High Quality, Photo Paper Plus Glossy II, Profile Canon Mx920 series. Tried both Kodak Premium Photo Paper Glossy and Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy II. Same over-saturated results. Printed from PS Elements, same settings. Result-- over-saturated print. Downloaded to Costco. Costco prints were perfect-- they were not over-saturated. What next?

Try this, seriously... Save it (export) as a JPEG and use a viewer to print the result, not the editing program. See if the result is the same. I deal with over saturated and strange print issues all the time with the "creating" programs. Granted this happens more with PDFs but it's worth a try.
By the way, I'm a Canon certified technician for what it worth.
And I shoot Nikon and Sony, haha!

I have a new Canon Pixma MX922 printer. Ink cartridges are new. Several test prints of my recent trip to Zion were significantly over-saturated, particularly in the red colors, but also somewhat in yellow and blue. My first thought was to calibrate the monitor, but first I decided to print the same prints at Costco. The color on the Costco prints was perfect. Clearly the problem is with my printer, not my monitor. What can I do?

I work in the printer industry as it is, so the above statement is correct. The printer only does what it is told to do. It doesn't make decisions. That being said, there are certain programs that will affect the output as well as the ICC profile. What did you use to print your photo?

There is a l aperture to Lightroom plugin available, and if you are using Lightroom 5.6 or later (I think) it may be integrated in the software.

[quote=Desert Gecko]lanooc, if you're still following this thread, I have advice for you. I read to the bottom of the first page and saw who came to the party (whenever Mark shows up to a Sony thread it becomes a hellstorm) so I'll understand....

I found a Brian Smith book on Amazon that I ended up ordering. I have the Help Guide which is nice for quick glances if I have a question, but that's not really what I was looking for. I appreciate your reply.
But you are correct. I didn't really stop following the thread but rather stopped caring about what anyone was saying, mostly because of two users bickering in the beginning. I really don't care about either of their opinions regarding this topic because neither of them took the time to answer my question. I was just looking for for some literature outside of the manuals and it turned into what seemed like a virtual big dick contest. I personally don't have time for condescension (I.e. "Tired old trope that just won't end"...) [I'm calling this out because when I read it, I automatically got offended and it stuck with me. He may not be the problem, but I remember that line and it had nothing to do with my question] and the vitriol that followed. Right or wrong, I felt this tread got hijacked immediately, like a political discussion on Facebook. I'm glad you took the time to at least give me a response to the original question.

100% mirrorless here...don't miss the DSLR dinosaur at all. For my shooting style, it's a perfect fit.

The thing that has been hardest for me is the size. I'm a pretty tall guy with big hands so the size of the dslr is comfortable, but the travelability (if that's a word, haha) is what sold me. I can pretty much take it anywhere, but my dslr is a bit inconvenient.

Many of us like you are in the Sony camera trip right now.
If you are a Nikon experienced photographer like i am then I would suggest you look at editorial and forum commentary with google searching. youtube has many useful videos. Most are good and honest as they can be. They cut to the chase and expose the pro's, cons and work arounds.
I have the Sony a7s and it is an amazing camera.
My bigger challenge was I have been involved in more video the last few years. Am a producer but now shooting a lot of my own run & gun stuff. I follow Philip Bloom for video and many others. If you are into stills I think you are ready to go. Good luck.
Many of us like you are in the Sony camera trip ri... (show quote)

Thanks for the info! I've always been one to stick with manufacturers that specialize in just a couple products, i.e. Nikon, Apple, etc...but this camera is something else. I most likely won't get rid of my Nikon stuff, but it sure is tempting!

I've recently acquired a new Sony A7mII and am dazzled by the images it can produce, especially in low light. I never thought I'd say this, but I am starting to consider getting rid of all my Nikon hardware, but I got Nikon down pat! That brings me to my real question...does anyone know of some good literature for the new A7mII? I've found stuff online but I'd like to have a book that is comparable to the Nikon books I've found.
Thanks a bunch in advance!

Ok- that's what I thought- so if I go new then I will upgrade to 16 G Ram -

I am maxed out at 8 G with current computer.

Actually, apple won't tell you this, but depending on the chipset within the computer you could max it out to 16GB of ram. That and an SSD would make your computer like new.

I have a Martin D45, and I have a Taylor Koa 26CE. I will not fly with them if I have to bring my guitars. Thanks for posting the video. I'm flying with them a 3 weeks with my camera gear, but I'm carrying it on.

I totally don't blame you for that, but now there is a federal law that says the airline has to allow you bring your instrument in to the cabin with you and treat it as a carry on, (or if there is no room they check it at the door.) I've flown with my custom tele and my high end takamine and never had a problem! Granted, it's no D45 which I'd be hesitant to take with me too!

I'm going to start the process of moving from Aperture 3 to Photos for Mac.

Hey there guys! I've been on here for a while, but I think this might be the first post, since this hits home for me. I moved my collection to LR5 from Aperture a while back. There are up sides and downsides to this decision. I've also been using Photos, but in a limited fashion.
I've been an avid Mac user for the last 5-6 years, first with iPhotos, then graduating to Aperture, then to Photos. I chose LR5 because the processing seems better than Aperture. My post processing results (at least to my eye) are better than Aperture, but I bet that has to do with my knowledge improving since my move, ha! I did like the organization in Aperture much better than I do in LR5, but since Aperture is no more what are you going to do?
Now to Photos... This is a completely dumbed down version of iPhoto and in all reality I am disappointed with Apple. Why lose this niche program and alienate some of the loyal users? I am also a recording engineer and use Apple's Logic Pro X. I'm glad they continued that program.... Back to Photos...
I decided that I would use Photos for my iPhone pics since it is EXACTLY THE SAME APP(as far as I can tell) as on the iPhone. To me, that is a step backwards for the professional, or even the amateur photographer.
Just my two cents!
By the way, I really enjoy reading all of the posts from the members. Everyone's insight is really helpful!
