Thanks each of you for looking in and the comments. I believe the juvenile had been out of the nest for just a few weeks at that point. They're now taking flight regularly between the nearest trees and home. One had been spending a lot of time in the few feet between the front of the house and the hedge there. (They're 10-12" tall already!)
Night herons are very active, chattering incessantly at night and the early morning. They came around to nest again this year, and I finally spotted one Sat. The juvenile was sitting on the fence when I drove up Sunday afternoon.
Thanks WF2B and Sailorsmom. I just noticed that I wasn't set to get notice of replies since I changed my e-mail address.
Happy Holidays! I wish I could attach an mp3 of Andy Williams singing Happy Holidays!
I was looking through the photos and noticed the jumper in the picture.
Thanks Simon. I do love water!
Thanks, Charlene. I hope to go back and spend some time there.
Not the greatest subject, but, a composition with foreground and middle-ground features.
Interesting work. Do you mind talking about the process?
Also, worth noting: It's molting season at San Simeon. The elephant seals have returned for molting season. The big males tussle during November; the females return to give birth mid-December through mid-February.
