Thought I'd toss in my 2¢ worth... suggest you go to the website www.dpreview.com. There you can search by camera type/search by features/ compare cameras that look interesting to you. For anyone else who doesn't know that website, have a look.

That said, I still love my Canon SX-40. (One day I'll probably upgrade.)

A high point of my most recent trip to see my daughter, who is stationed on Oahu, was TantalusDrive/Round Top Drive.Spectacular views of Honolulu. On your trip to the north shore, I'd suggest lunch at Mackey's Shrimp Truck (at 66-632 Kamehameha Hwy, Haleiwa) for outstanding garlic shrimp! Above all, BEFORE LUNCH time, Laniakea Beach (Kamehameha Hwy) is the BEST place to see the giant green sea turtles. Great photos! Your red crested cardinal shot is MUCH better than those I got on a recent trip to visit my daughter, who is stationed on Oahu. You've inspired me to do better,next trip!
