I'm in lovely North Conway, NH and will be going on the Cog Railroad up Mt. Washington. Any ideas for lenses? I have a Nikon D7000 with the Nikkor 18-105mm, a Sigma 10-20mm, Nikkor 35mm and Nikkor 55-300.

I was there in late May and used my Nikon D7000 with my Sigma 10-20 almost exclusively when indoors. When I moved outdoors I shot primarily with the Nikkor 18-105. I got a ton of great shots, a couple of which I posted a couple of weeks back.

Thanks! I never considered that, but I will from now on.

My wife and I took an Alaska cruise and we spent a couple of days in Seattle to see the sights. I heartily recommend the Chihuli exhibit located near the Space Needle. It was amazing. My two shots are of the same item, although cropped a little bit differently, one taken with flash the other without.

Camera: Nikon D7000
Lens: Sigma 10-20mm, f/4.0-5.6
Focal Length: 20mm
Exposure: 1/60 sec., f/5.6, ISO 1600
Both shots were edited in Photoshop CC, using Auto Tone, Auto Contrast, Auto Color only. Final crop and conversion to jpeg was done in Preview from a MacBook Pro, 2013 edition.

I think the shot without the flash is superior, but I'm interested in any and all comments. This is my first post to this section, but you need not be gentile.

The 35mm 1.8G focuses down to 12" or so, is super sharp and is very cost-effective. I've used mine with my D7000 for a few years now and it always delivers great results.

I have the 55-300mm lens and I use it on my D7000. It's a great combination, and I've been able to use it hand-held with ease. I took several wildlife shots with it when riding at Disney's Animal Kingdom on their Safari ride and the shots were surprisingly sharp. For the price, this lens is difficult to beat.

There's nothing cheap about the inexpensive version, except its price. It's super sharp and it produces fine results on my D7000.

The D7000 is a great DSLR, no matter what the D7100 and D7200 have for a feature set.

If you aren't flush with cash, the D7000 as you describe it is a great deal and you'll get years of enjoyment from it.

If you want to see something spectacular, go on YouTube and search for the TAMI show. It was a Rock movie from 1964 or 1965, and Lesley Gore performs as one of the great acts. She was 18 at the time, or so I've read, but you'd be amazed at the power of her voice and her presence and poise on stage. She was something to see!

The advantage of the Nikon 35mm 1.8 with the D7000 is that, combined with the versatility of the D7000, exposure will never be a problem, the lens itself is very sharp and you can get the lens for around $200. The combination can't be beat!

I own the 35mm 1.8G. It's inexpensive and it performs great . The f1.8 speed helps, but I think the best thing about the lens is that it's super sharp. On a DX camera it's equivalent to a 52.5mm lens.
