I just recently purchased a Canon t3i. I shopped alot of local camera shops before looking at Best Buy. They have great deals on the camera and usually bundle it with another lens. They also through in an additional 15% off other accessories if I purchased them at the time with the camera. That's when I bought the extra Canon battery, memory card and camera bag.
I am also new using a dslr and I can tell you it is an easy camera to get familiar with.
Great! Thank you for the encouragement. First competition is coming up next month. I will send some pictures to see what you think.
The boats race to cross the starting line at full speed. I will try to crop the two close boats and see how that looks. Thank you for your suggestions. I really appreciate it.
Here is an action shot I took of the boat races in Lock Haven, PA. Let me know what you think. They were at full speed heading for the starting line.
Heading for the starting line
Those Hawk photos are great!! Thank you for giving me some great ideas! I really appreciate the time you have given me.
:D
distance varies from event to event. I can move closer to the floor in most cases. Thank you for your help. I will look into the 580ex. Which lens would you recommend?

If you have to shoot from the stands you may also need a strong flash.
I have a speedlite 320ex. Is that a strong flash or do you recommend something else?
Hello, I was wondering if I could get some feed back on these photos I took. Two of them are of my Pit Bull Smoke, and the other is of a butterfly that was visiting our butterfly bush. The camera is new to me and upto recently, I didnt know anything about photography. (Not that I know anything now! ha ha) I took the close ups in the EV setting and the one of Smoke jumping on the TV setting. Thank you for your suggestions. I look forward to your replys!
Hello everyone! I am new to this site and photography. I just recently purchased a Canon T3I ( lens: EFS 18-55 and EFS 55-250) camera for taking photos of my daughter at allstar cheer competitions. They are held in Gymnasiums and Arenas. There is usually alot of light shining on the floor. (some dancing light and strobes to the music as well) I was told that I would need a lens with an f/2.8 due to the distance and the lighting of being indoors. I was wondering if anyone has any experience or can help with making the right choice on a lens and camera setup for these events.I will be shooting from a monopod during the event. Thank you very much in advance for you help and input. I look forward to your replys.
