A friend is going on a cruise to Alaska and wanted a camera to take along. Target had a great deal on the Canon Rebel T5 with a 28/55 and 75-300 lenses. So she buys it, opens it up and has no ideal how to use it and wants me to help. I pick it up and try and figure it out without much success. Reading the instructions didn't help a lot as this was like an alien machine to me. I've been a Nikon user for 50 Years starting with the FT, F3, F5, D80, D300, D300S, D700. Had to go to Utube to get some help. I had no ideal that Canon and Nikon were so different when it came to controls and menus. I struggled to figure out anything with the Canon, something I never did with my Nikons. To me everything on my Nikons has always been intuitive, kind of like my Apple computers I used for over 40 years. I Imigine if I had been using Canons for 50 years I would feel comfortable with the T5. I'm not knocking Canon, I was just surprised how different this camera was to operate from Nikons and the difficulty I had trying to figure out how to use it. Anyone else had this problem going from Nikon to Canon or the other way?

We've seen this approach so many times... It's always a friend with a problem. And I guess you would have a better chance of solving your problems if you switch from "ideal" to idea.
