Never heard of having to spend $70.00 to get the credit. Maybe you should check with the home office of staples. The upgrade comes into play when you have spent a certain amount. Every purchase is recorded on your staples rewards card. You do have one don't you? When you hit a certain amount you are automatically upgraded to premium membership. Looks like you need to talk to the manager of your store or go online to the staples reward site. Good Luck!
