I use Synback and mirror my photo drive to a couple of other drives - it is easy to use and there is a free version - https://www.2brightsparks.com/freeware/freeware-hub.html

I second the syncbak software. I have multiple different backups set up and it works great. Many different options for backups. Both free and paid versions available.

If you were a Marine as your avatar implies, you're eligible to join USAA. They offer a Valuable Personal Property policy that is very reasonable. Here in Ohio, State Farm is usually referred to as Snake Farm for a very good reason.

You can only get this Valuable Personal Property policy if you have other insurance policies with them.

Based on all the snarky, rude and irrelevant comments, I will not be posting to this site again. And I do self educate and I do read about good wildlife techniques. I guess if you are not a "Self proclaimed expert" you do not belong here. It would be nice to see a civil thread some day. But I guess that is asking too much with this crowd.

Nikon D750 set to auto ISO in manual mode.

Metering set on Matrix mode. ISO max set at 3200

Most all pictures come out over exposed, compared to setting ISO manually.

Camera settings are shutter speed around 1000-1600, Aperature F5.6 - F8 (Wildlife Photography with a 150-600 lens)

Any suggestions as to what else I need to adjust or what may be wrong?

I mirror / backup / sync my drive to various other drives and have the ability to use FTP for online storage.

It is easy to use and set up -

I second SyncBack. They have both free and paid versions, it works great. You can set it up to do auto backups on a schedule or just do it manually if that is what you want.

I have carried a small GPS tracker with me whenever I travel for several years. I use the coordinates to generate a Google Earth track of my travels, as well as to geotag all my photos. I set the clock of my camera accurately and software synchronizes the image and the coordinates. This works because the time gotten from the satellites and written to the recorded coordinates is accurate.

Could you tell us what GPS tracker you are using and what software you use to geotag the photos.

Get insurance for your gear added to your homeowner's insurance. Covers loss, repair, replace at full value and is really cheap. And can easily add lenses and other expensive gear as you go.

I have a rider on my insurance for my equipment and it only covers loss or theft, not repairs. Is there something different about your rider that would interest others.

I am looking for a new lens for my Nikon D3200 to take light trails, night sky photograhy and low light or long exposure night outside shots.

I have the Nikon 18-55mm kit lens, but am looking at the sigma 17-50mm/f2.8. The question is, will the Sigma (or another make) be an improvement over the kit lens for my needs mentioned above.

Thank for any suggestions.

Again, my opinion, if doing birding the 18to300 is not a great choice. Consider the 70to200 or possibly the 80to400.

We have had good success with the 18-300 Nikon lens, unless I am missing something, I don't think the 70-200 would have sufficient reach. I am looking at a Sigma 150-500, but am concerned about the weight.

I am thinking of upgrading to a D7100 from a D3200. I have read just about every thread on the two and would like to know if I will experience a significant improvement in the quality of my photos, considering that they use the same sensor.

I have been using a Nikon 18-300 mm zoom on the D3200 with good success for birding and wildlife. From what I have read, the D7100 is good in low light and the additional non-menu controls over the 3200.

Thanks for your comments.

A used 300 f4 W/1.4X is always a good possibility for Nikon - if you can find one.

I was under the assumption that a teleconverter would not work with the D3200? Something about the teleconverter interfering with the mechanics of the camera body.

My wife has a Nikon D3200 with a Nikor 18-300mm zoom lens, which she uses for wildlife and bird photos. The 18-300mm is a great lens, but a little more reach would be better.

She would like to get a larger zoom lens and would like to know what may be available for the D3200. I have looked at the Sigma 150-500mm and the Tamron 150-600mm. Wondering if these are compatible with the D3200, from all that I have read they appear to be.

Any suggestions on lenses for the D3200 would be appreciated.

Maybe the admins on this site should look in to this issue. For me it only happens on the Hedgehog forum.

When I open the Hedgehog Forum, I always seem to get a message to update my Flash Player. I am very suspicious of this, as it only happens in the Hedgehog Forum and no where else. It completely knocks me out of the forum.

I have not updated the flash player, as I am not sure it is legit. Anyone else having this issue. Sometimes the update message pops up after I have been in the forum for awhile.

Do you have the lens hood in the wrong orientation?

No lens hood was on at the time the picture was taken.

Thanks for the suggestion though.
