Greetings fellow Hoggers.

I have had my camera gear, about 12,000 insured through State Farm for the last several years and when I opened my renewal statement my jaw hit the floor. My premium went up $81.00 annually. Is there a more reasonable option I'm unaware of out there, or should I just bite the bullet and renew? I guess State Farm is gouging me to pay for hail storms and hurricanes. Sheesh!

That's essentially $6.75 per month. Is that for replacement cost, or with a deductible?

He said that it increased by that amount. The total premium would be interesting.

Check with your home owners policy. It usually has an option to cover losses to personal property.

Sorry, Dave. I misread your post. I thought there were some photo specialty insurance companies out there. Might be time for google.

AMICA is a great company. They were super when we had a house fire.

I have been with them for 35 years and can attest to their service.

If you were a Marine as your avatar implies, you're eligible to join USAA. They offer a Valuable Personal Property policy that is very reasonable. Here in Ohio, State Farm is usually referred to as Snake Farm for a very good reason.

I added 15,000 to cover my equipment with State Farm and my premium went up $400/year.

Yes, my premium for years was $125 with no deductible, drops, spills, loss or theft. My new premium is $205. I am going to look into USAA tomorrow, as well as others.

It was through my home owners policy as a personal property rider.

Highly recommend USAA. Available to all veterans. Very reasonable camera and equipment coverage attached to home owners policy. And their Auto insurance is good as well
