So, what happens if you get to the end of a contract obligation and decide not to re-up? You have a download of the latest versions of Photoshop and Light Room on your computer. Are those still functional but no longer supported by Adobe until you re-subscribe?

There are a ton of people who believe that Creative Cloud means that you access a remote computer and all your images must be stored out on the internet to process them - that was my first impression too.

I was part of that ton. It's slightly lighter now. Glad I started asking questions here.

Thanks for all the replies and advice. I appreciate it.

Based on what has been said, and some more research I did, I think a download from Adobe is the way to go. What to download is now the question. I could download Lightroom 5 standalone with a perpetual license for around $150. I also see I could download Creative Cloud Photography, which includes Photoshop and Lightroom 5, for $9.99 a month (plus local taxes).

That is a lot cheaper than I understood it would be. And, this is the actual download of the software rather than web based access, which was another concern of mine.

I think I will get my feet wet with a month long free trial of Lightroom 5 and see how that goes. Learning that should keep me busy for a while till I decide what to do long term.

Thanks again.

Thanks. Yes. I noticed that too (not for individual sale). Was wondering about the legality of that. Once you buy something don't you have the right to do what you will with it?

I'll go take a look at Amazon but I think I did look there and the only availability was the monthly subscription, which I won't do (at least, not till I retire and have more time on my hands ;o))

I plan to buy Lightroom 5. It's been recommended to me as a good image editing tool and organizing tool. I'm not ready for the level of complexity or expense of Photoshop, and I don't really like the monthly subscription idea. I would like to buy a disc with Lightroom, rather than a download, simply because I would not trust a download as much as a disc.

I've been looking on Ebay and there are a lot of people selling discs that they say came bundled with some hardware (printer, camera, etc) they purchased and they don't need the software. Any suggestions, cautions, warnings about buying this software would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've been building a system around the OMD-E-M1 so I am taking the plunge. Already have the 12-40 Pro so this is a logical addition.

FYI: Olympus had sent me a 5% off coupon for completing a survey. I never used it before it expired. I asked Olympus if they could reinstate it so I could use it on the lens pre-order. They said no, they could not reinstate it, but they gave me a 10% off coupon instead. Fair enough!

I don't understand the fact over fantasy comment. In the very first sentence of the first post the OP stated the 40-150 is equivalent to 80-300 on a full frame. That's a fact, isn't it?

I think the 40-150 will fit in perfectly with 12-40 in the series of high quality, fast zooms Olympus appears to be building. Kinda drifting away from the advantages of the micro 4/3rd in regards to size but still smaller than an equivalent full frame lens. I will certainly be looking forward to it and hoping it matches the performance of the 12-40... and that the price comes down.

Why are you people afraid? It is sad when fear rules ones life.

Yoda-wanna-be... you fear when you don't have options. A weapon gives you options a unarmed person does not have. More options. Less fear. Think on that you should.

I can't say what you did wrong till I know what you are trying to do. May not know what to suggest even then. I see a figure in a busy dress in front of a busy background and to me they blend together. I would try to blur the background to emphasize the figure. The tension in the pose could be an issue, but maybe you want that. Hard to say till you define what you intended to capture.

Welcome to the "Hog" Totomojo! And let me know how you like your Olympus M4/3 camera rig. I still have an '80's era Olympus OM PC (yes a FILM camera)and a 28mm 1.8, 135mm 4.0 both Zuiko, an old Soligar 28-85mm, and a Vivitar 400mm f5.6. Loved that old Olympus, it was a great camera.

Hey FramerMCB... back when I was a pup in the '70's I was shooting an AE1 and a friend had an Olympus. Don't know what model, but they always seemed to be the Benz amongst the Chevys.

The E-M1 is a really solid piece so far. I read a lot of reviews and there are many good M4/3s out there. The E-M1 seemed the best fit for me.

Several people have mentioned that I should post pictures. How do most people do that? Do you provide a link to something like Flicker of Photo bucket? I'm not even sure if those are still good repositories.

Edit: just noticed the photo gallery. I'll go take a look.

Thanks for all the replies. Much appreciated. The advice to go to Setup Menu, select Rec View and set that to "off" did the trick.

Just got married at Pt Defiance Zoo! Welcome aboard!

Congratulations on the marriage.

I'm going to suggest to the camera club I'm in (Pilchuck Camera Club) that we come down this summer to one of the Lawn Bowls at the park there in Tacoma. I've been to one several years ago and found it interesting.

Thanks. Nice to be greeted so quickly. I been in/through Sequim numerous times and walked the Dungeness Spit. Lived in Kent and went to Tacoma frequently (Ruston Way, Point Defiance Zoo, Logger Museum). Hope to learn and contribute here.
