That is a great photo. How many tries did it take to get just the right one? What changes did you make during the shoot?
Maybe there's a more appropriate place to post this, but most of my stuff winds up in this section, so it seemed like as good a place as any.
It's a short walk from my house to the local county fairground. We go the fair every year. This year my wife suggested that I enter a couple of images in the fair's photography contest. It was something of a lark. I made the prints at Costco and stuck 'em on foam board from the local art supply store. The result? My shots from 2014 in Springfield, Illinois, and Sacramento, Calif., each took first place in their classes (Color/Action and B&W/Action, respectively), and the color image was honored as runner-up in Best of Show judging out of a couple hundred entries. Not bad for a first try. I received some nice ribbons and six bucks.
I think it's less likely that he was caught in the moment of taking a risky photo than that this was a posed shot.
First a Kodak 35, followed by a Kodak Retina, and then an OM2. The Kodaks were given to me by my father in my high school days as he moved up. He took mountains of photos w/that Retina before getting a Minolta SLR. The Olympus was my first brand new camera and came along during my first year of college. The Kodaks are long gone, but the OM2 is in box somewhere in my house.

...If you dont watermark to keep them from being stolen why do you watermark?
I've taken thousands of photos of people racing motorcycles at amateur and professional events. Although I sell some prints and occasionally sell a digital image to a magazine, I also post a lot of photos online that people can download for free. People love these. My hobby was never intended to be a money-maker. I place a watermark w/my name and date in one corner so that when someone's sitting in the nursing home years from now looking through old photos they'll remember who took the shot. Simple as that.
Nice! I hope you didn't get smacked by one of those things. :D
I usually sit on the aisle and leave my camera packed away. But when my flight had a rough landing in Orlando about a month ago, I pulled it out quickly to get a shot of one of the firetrucks that was waiting for us. I didn't think too much about what I was doing and nearly hit the lady in the middle seat in the nose as I reached across her.

I've got wary of accidentally moving a Mode dial or Exp. Comp. dial without realising.
The mode knob on my 7D sticks out a bit and doesn't lock in place. It's easy to bump it and change settings w/o noticing until it's too late. For $150 or so I can send the camera to Canon for a better knob, or for practically nothing I can lock it in place at the start of the day w/a little piece of blue painter's tape. I do that when I run through my checklist for the day. The blue tape doesn't leave any stickum residue on the camera.
