I quit shooting weddings in 1998 just because of having to deal with people JUST like that, it just wasn't worth it after almost 20 years. I prefer wildlife, they never offer opinions, never have derogatory comments, and never make unreasonable demands! And I don't even miss all the money because my health is more important to me.
A wise decision. Congratulations on having the guts to make it. Amen!
If I understand this correctly, expecting any normal image, that is to say not close-up or macro, to remain sharp at 1:1 magnification is expecting far too much.
Seems to me that more people are reported being shot in one nightly news broadcast than I remember happening during the entire time I was growing up. Back then it was switchblades. Anyway, I must admit to feeling more than just a little joy every time a report says that a home invader or other would-be thug is shot down while in the act. That's justice!
"America's not a country... It's just a business," the last line in Killing Them Softly, spoken by hitman Jackie Cogan played by Brad Pitt sums it up nicely, I think. Once the ruling class figured out that consumer debt via easy credit was the best form of slavery ever invented, the rest became history. The middle class is perhaps the greatest American myth today. Politicians refer to it all the time so a bunch of people will think they care about them.
All good, especially like #2 the Caddy and #6 cloths books & TV left behind.
Duh...I'm gonna need more time. But could you send this to that 6th grade teacher in DC who gave her class the Bush vs Hitler assignment?
Illegal wars? Forget about the color issue, teach has a semantics problem. But lets skip the obvious implication of the alleged assignment and consider that if one or two of those mushy minds actually did the assignment, Dubya would come off looking pretty damn good even to liberals. Personally, I wouldnt be surprised if the teacher didnt know what country Hitler was in, what war he started or where it was fought. Any student who actually tried to do the assignment would quickly learn more than the teacher probably knows.
Great shot of a classic, sadly lost to antiquity. I like the juxtaposition, sort of, of the Packard with what looks like an M35. When I was growing up a friend of my parents who was a house painter and owned three 50s vintage Packards concurrently. He wouldnt drive anything else.
Thank you for posting, that was enjoyable. I was recently asked what sports I was interested in, meaning the usual predominant team sports. I answered none really, but Formula One, now that holds my interest. Been to two Grand Prix at Watkins Glen, saw Jackie Stewart, the Flying Scotsman, take fifth in 1971 with broken front suspension, nothing like it!
Great positive experience, thanks for posting!
Outstanding photographs, surreal, thank you!
As a lawyer, I would think she would know better that to argue with a NYC police officer, especially as a muslim in Times Square after 9/11 and coming up on the 13th anniversary... Call me crazy but when confronted by police it isn't the best time to talk about your rights. I guess they didn't cover that in her law school.
Thank you for posting this well-written article, particularly the part about photo-tudes. Ive encountered my share, but it never bothered me because I really dont care how other photographers do whatever they do. It's really none of my business. Instead, starting with the basics and figuring it out for myself, aka experience, planted knowledge much more firmly in my alleged mind than listening to someone else pontificate.
As one who frequents a similar hunting ground, I say these are extraordinary.
