Trainer the Marines were using in 1976? It looks familiar. Great shot. Charlie

The Texan is "War Dog" flown by John Collver. Shot taken at the Riverside Air Show in April.

Don't think any U.S. services were using the AT-6 for training that late in the game. The Navy and Marines may have been using the T-28, but I believe they went to all turbine or jet powered training aircraft in the late 70's and/or early 80's. Maybe some of you "hoggers" with a Navy/Marine aviation background can comment.
Great photo though!

Got lucky back in 1955/56 as a member of the Wisconsin Air National Guard. Stationed in Alpena MI for summer camp. Got to take a ride with a WWII/Korean War pilot. He and his buddy were getting in hours and took my buddy and I for a ride over the lakes of MI. They showed us what it was like to dog fight
it was a most memorable experience. What a kick! Remember it like it was yesterday.

SNJ(T6 for Air force) used for training much earlier than '76. Replaced by T-28, which I flew in flight school back in '68. It was replaced by T-34 turboprop late 70's or 80's.
