I would contact Tamron.

Was the lens in need of calibration when you bought it? New? Used?

Thanks Jerry
It was a new unit and it was way out on calibration. Maybe Im doing something wrong. I read somewhere someone asked the question whether you should put calibration into the lens as you go or all at once. Guess I'll ask this as a question as well.

Be interested if anyone has seen this problem before.
Bought this lens a month ago. Initially calibrated at F2.8 using Spyder lenscal within all practical limits zero on the ruler. The results entered into the lens via the tap-in consol. In use, the lens was not consistently focusing.
Rechecking my calibration centered on the ruler at f2.8. I then tried stopping down just out of interest. To my surprise the more I stopped down the more the lens would back focus. Well, that's interesting I'm thinking so who better than UHH to ask for an opinion.
I have also tried calibrating with Dote Tune and FoCal software. Im using a 5dmk 4 images appear focused using live view through a bit soft at 24 and 70.
Thanks for any input

Have the G1, same optical design the G2 has different coatings. Get it, you will not be disappointed.

Its looking like it. Just out of interest how do you find the g1 working in the same range as the 16 -35 f4.

I have the version II 24-105L, and where the difference is dramatic, is in low light situations where the Tamron blows my Canon away. I also believe the VC (IS on a Canon) is better which I absolutely need due to tremors in my hands. My advice is to get one and try it out, all of the stores I purchase from have a 30 day return policy and as they say, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

My Problem is similar after recently having spinal surgery, I really need I.S .

I got the Tamron late last year. I have never been happier with a lens. I did a lot of research beforehand, and on paper it was the winner. In practice its been superb. I think this lens has been discussed several times previously. You might want to read those posts..

Thanks for your reply
Most of the feedback leans more to nikon Im kind of looking forward to a canon comparision.

Looking for any user feedback on this lens. Im currently using a canon 24 70 2.8 series 1 on a 5d mk 4 but I like the idea of image stabilisation on the tamron. I do a fare bit of low light shooting. I have reviewed mostly positive opinions on the lens but it would be nice to get real world feedback from U.H ers in particular anyone who has experience in comparing the tamron to the series 1 canon.
Thanks
Pete

Thanks MT
If your saying that about the series 2 canon its safe to say it has more to offer over the series 1. In your experience are there any negatives to this lens. I think you tipped me into the tamron 15 30 a while back which is a stellar bit of kit so thanks for your input

Actually, if you give your camera to someone else to shoot you probably need to put it on Auto which will put it back to shutter release focus.

Any party shots of me are always out of focus

Have a look at the Benq sw2700pt 27 inch 99% Adobe RGB 2.5K monitor . For Photography 4k is not really a benefit for 27 Inch and smaller monitors, wider gamut (color space) is a more important spec.

I have been using this app for an number of years now I mainly use it for adjusting lighting positioning and makeup which I find quicker than using P.S. I still prefer P.S if I need to do some serious skin texture adjustments. As all have said and just like HDR its very easy to over do. Best results with this program come with accurate anchor point placement.

If you have Lightroom, go to Develop, on the right scroll down to camera and lens profile. Click on chromatic aberration and profile, enter camera and lens model, and it cleans up real nice.

I have an old canon 17 35 l 2.8 which is a dog for C.A so it functions as a paperweight. Using the method described but adjusting manually the corrections make this lens exceptionally good.

I use a MAHA powerex c9000 battery charger for my AA's etc. Amazing bit of technology for getting the best out of your batteries. As I removed some batteries off charge this morning it got me wondering why this technology is not available (to my knowledge) for maintaining camera batteries. OEM chargers just don't cut it compared to MAHA. I realize they would be expensive but so is an $80 + camera battery.
