Always format your SD card in camera. I thought that it is common knowledge... :-)

What matters is that YOU like it! It is a winner to you!

Now as for my subjective opinion - it looks and an overcooked HDR. But, you made the shot, was it really close to the final result you presented? If yes, than it is a winner for me as well :-)

Jerry,
What CS6 photoshop version do you have, 13.*.*?
Thanks,

Kav ... skyscraper floor size limitations have absolutely no merit ... although - the lifts need regulating some ...

French Fries neither ... clearly, the bigger ones are more filling, but the smaller ones may well be tastier ...

But, pixel size is so varied ... and that factor makes all the MP comparisons - absolutely meaningless ....

That's why it needs better control - to protect the consumer ....

So he or she doesn't wind up with worse pics, even tho' their MP count is twice the size of neighbor Fred's ...

Good luck with your "pixel size" regulation initiative

You do not have my vote here maybe in the future with more realistic ideas...

This is why it all needs regulating - like the FDA requirement on food packages. If they change the pixel size as soon as they cram more in on the sensor ... eventually - sheer MP count - won't mean a damned thing!

Okay, and I want to regulate the size (height) of each floor in a skyscraper. This will enable me to compare between them. Also, I want regulation on the size of my french fries. I want, as a customer, all of them to be same dimensions. This will enable me to have a fair comparison between all fast food brands.
ChrisT, I hope by now, you do understand that your idea here has not merit.

I want to know, for one ... and I'm sure others would, too ... if they knew there were so many differences ...

What ARE the variables, and what are they based on?

If you want to know - do a google search on design of image sensors. You will find some basic articles and many more that explore topics such as what is the signal (charge) accumulated from a single pixel, what is the noise level + many others. After some time you will understand why there won't be any 'regulation' on pixel size, like there is no regulation on many design aspects of cameras.

Beautiful photos. The detail is amazing. 500mm, handheld, and so sharp.
Amazing !!!

May I suggest F11 or F13, longer exposure time ~ 1/100 or even 1/60s. You may get larger DOF, reduce your noise somewhat.
I do not see why you need 1/500s, nothing is moving fast in your scene, you picked to collect less light an possibly blur some of the foreground which you were interested in an it is fairly dark.

So far I've been very pleased with my month old Fuji X-T2, but I don't know what to make of these two photos. I saw what I now believe may be the same oddity in an 8 second exposure of fireworks, but passed that off as smoke. No smoke here. If you look at the two photos posted, they are very sharp up in the clouds that I exposed for. Looking down to the top of the tree line there is some understandable underexposure and resulting loss of sharpness. But now look down at the lowest section of trees/bush. It looks like it's "blooming" for lack of a technical term. The lens was Fuji's own 18-135 3.5/5.6 lens, with no filter on the lens. I had the hood on, which shouldn't matter as I shot from inside the house, and through a window. I know Fuji has several presets for the dynamic range which is now set to automatic, but I should think that would simple apply to balancing the exposure more and nothing to do with this "blooming?" Any ideas anyone? The posted images are showing much darker than my images, but I think you can still see the problem.

Good luck with that. Plan to go a day or two early. ODOT is predicting that I-35 will be a huge parking lot as millions of people travel to Oregon for this.

If you do not have a reserved place (hotel room for example) in the eclipse path by now, I would not make the effort to travel on 8/21. With at least 500,000 to maybe 1,000,000 folks jamming the highways, it may not be a great experience for some. I will stay in Portland...
