thanks Pete! I never said we were smart! as it got busier I noticed some kids coming to the park with their helmets, obviously their moms must have made them bring them because they just dropped them on the ground next to there backpack and started skating

I took my grandson to the skate park today, thought I would try to get some photos of him on his board. I quickly realized I am way out of practice and need to get familiar with my camera again.

do you know what your ISO was at? you might be able to raise it to get faster shutter speeds

I am surprised that the camera came up with such a low shutter speed. normally when shooting ice and snow on a sunny day mine is usually higher. I looked at some of mine I took on a cruise, must were 1000 or higher but then my ISO was 400 to 800. I see you said you can only use one hand, did you happen to use a monopod? the vibration from the engines can cause problems using them when they are running.
I use AV most of the time, I set the aperture I want and let the camera do the shutter speed. also I use a single focus point so I know where the camera is going to focus.
you could come back and take a day cruise! I might even go with you. we normally do a day cruise every year, I haven't yet this year.
the attached image was hand held, shot at 1/250 f5.6 at 400mm. I wouldn't recommend this speed but it can work

I use Costco in Anchorage, they do have the printer profiles on line for their printers. ask at the photo center, they should be able to tell you where.
I have had good results. if you aren't happy with the prints they will rebound your money

I just went online and looked. if you go to the bottom of the photo center page, printer profiles is in small print at the bottom.
it takes you to Dry Creeks site, click your state for local profiles.

I love the thought of the train in the garden! my wife loves gardening and I had trains in the past. maybe some day if we move to a different climate we could do this.
I would love to see more of your trains

I put my camera away after shooting one day and had no desire to take it out again until today. My wife and I took a ride to Seward for lunch and I brought it along.
