I still am hoping you will show us photos of these lovely young ladies from today - when they may be grandmothers and all...

Thank you! That was the answer!

And thanks to all who replied...no need to continue as this has been resolved!

Thanks, and I have tried all the things I can see to select - but what is missing are little icons for the various views - Grid, Loupe, Compare, People

They have been there, just to the left of where it says 70 photos/1 selected...etc. It was just so easy to switch among those views - I realize I can use the letter code shortcuts but I'll be damned if I can figure out how to get them back...

Okay, this is one of those things for which I know I will feel stupid, but here goes...

LRC - latest version - running Mac OSX 14.4.1

This is definitely user error - I must have hit some secret combination of keys to eliminate the small icons in the lower left of the Library window - just above the slide strip - the one that had icons for Loupe, Grid, Compare views, etc.

I've gone through all the key commands on the cheat sheet - and have failed to undo what I did.

So thanks for any help anyone can offer...

note the lack of the little icons...

meanwhile, the Library module still shows the analogous icons for that module...

There is a save the raw files. The output jpg file that is tolerable but better to play with the raw files.

Thanks - yes. But it seems this model does not allow the saving of the raw files along with the JPEG - and the double-secret-probation menu on which to choose which was you want the camera to work is the thing to find (at least according to what CHG_CANON wrote, for which I thank him)

What you have described is simple bracketing. I am not a Canon owner but have little doubt that body can do it. Set it for -1, nominal & +1. Let it take the shots. Then assemble it later.

Thanks for playing, but you evidently did not understand the question. Not a problem, though, as CHG_Canon gives me what I was seeking...

Asking for a friend here (no, really!)

So he has an EOS R50 and I am trying to explain to him the concept of exposure bracketing and the subsequent use of HDR software - seemingly simple enough, right?

However, when we set the camera to AEB (and set it to take the 2nd and 3rd shots 1 stop over and under) what the camera does when you press the shutter release is take three shots, think a minute, and generate a finished bracketed image...which is a JPEG and it did not actually save the CR3 raw files.

My question is - can the camera be set to take the three shots and just save the raw files so they can be played with in post?

TIA for any helpful answers...

I would think they are bad investment.

Well, maybe if one owns a sound system with any of these speaker systems:
https://www.whathifi.com/features/11-worlds-most-expensive-loudspeakers

and similarly high end components ($35K turntable, etc.) then one has a good enough "ear" to tell the difference.

Or, one has tons of money and a need to show off his wealth and is tired of wearing multi million dollar Patek Phillipe watches to impress the hoi palloi

The hype cycle for EVs is certainly winding down. Ford just announced it is not going to make EV pickups any longer, and Fiskar is apparently close to bankruptcy (with something like a 50% discount on their hugely expensive SV).

It is good to see the propaganda is getting less effective.

I've wondered what the "used EV market" will be like. Would you buy a used EV not knowing how long the battery will last vs what a replacement battery will cost? Although the car's software anticipates the percentage of battery life, how fast will it start to go downhill and how well will it hold a charge?

Good points - all pointing to the silliness of the entire EV push that has been propagated on us for a few years now. Never mind global warming is nonsense (watch the movie "Climate - the Movie" on YouTube - it's worth an hour to open your eyes if you don't believe that) despite all the virtue signalling nonsense pushed by the gub'ment, reality is starting to become apparent. Hertz, of course, is getting rid of the 20,000 EVs it acquired as they are not getting enough traction, and Fiskar is nearing bankruptcy.

So, get your popcorn and see how things progress from here.

And here I thought Nikon sourced its imaging sensors from Sony...

It strikes me that the resolution statistic nowadays is somewhat analogous to the way CPU speeds were talked about back in the 80's and 90's, when microcomputers were taking off. I'm sure many recall how manufactures touted their newer faster CPUs (10MHz! 50Mhz!!) as a way to attract new buyers.

However, once CPUs hit a certain speed - let's just say 1GHz (though in truth a lot less) and it turned out no matter how fast one types the CPU spent 90%+ of its cycles waiting for your next keystroke, that this metric became somewhat pointless. Of course, in the case of computer CPUs, with software demanding ever more cycles the speed war is still on, and does make some sense.

But for sensors, if one were to realize that, say, 24MP is more than adequate for 99+% of issues, the ever-higher resolutions of imaging chips becomes just a number without any real meaning - other than requiring additional storage capaciy to keep all those award winning photos of course.

Really? Or maybe just some entitled over-paid disinterested white guy...

FFS, why does everything have to become political/racist?

A mistake of some kind was made somewhere, somehow, by an unknown person in unknown circumstances, and the first uninformed "conclusion" is that it was related to race.

First, Einstein, DEI is not about race - it's about filling positions with less capable people who check whatever the box du jour is.

Second, seems as though there has been quite an uptick in incidents of late, dontcha' think? Or, dontcha'? Now I know correlation does not mean causation, but it does bring up the concept.

I'd guess that a panel falling off a plane that has been in service for more than a few months is far more likely to be the fault of someone in maintenance than the manufacturer.

Agreed, and that makes one wonder if it was a DEI hire who screwed the pooch.
