Rick, your topic is well meaning, not a rant at all. However, you're starting with the wrong assumption.

Photo Gallery is primarily a social sharing site. The majority of UHH users are over 70 years old.
Those who wish to "improve" (the meaning will be different for everyone) will ask for help.

Regarding where you can post photos, there are dozens of under-utilized volunteer-managed sections. Anyone unfamiliar should go to "all sections" at the bottom of this page. Subscribe to those of interest, and participate!

I frequent Landscape section and Black and White. And I always encourage feedback I also co-manage Digital Artistry, where we are open to constructive suggestions and opinions.

A note about Photo Analysis. The guidelines, written by Admin, are very specific as to that section's purpose. Folks who want to post there should read that pinned doc first. Otherwise, Admin will just move them to Gallery.

Were you aware that Jim’s images are from the 1970s, so no chance to “improve” technique?

He began by offering these shots as nostalgia, and then tried experimenting with colorization. IMHO he HAS been improving. And the fact that he offers different images as he goes is refreshing.

You are, of course, entitled to your opinion that the images are boring. And I am entitled to my opinion that your criticism is a bit harsh.

you are correct John.

The thing that's a little odd here is that when people take umbrage at an observation/comment about an individual's post; they say, "don't look." In which case, the same can be said of that person if they don't like that particular comment, don't read it.

Well then, let's all read this.

I am not sure where the good is.

The skin color is way off every time. The background is often left B&W.

53 thread of this? Wow! You guys are patient.

There is a lot of hype about everything. Some people love the 1955 Studebaker. It all depends on what you want. The D700 was a great camera when it was introduced, but newer models have surpassed it.

I think d700 is still great. I have d200, d90, d7000 and other brands.
I always have my d700 with me.

I have 2 D700 cameras. I love them. One has 5000 clicks and the other 250,000.
They are not for sale.
