What a surprise when I read this with interest. Then looking at the pictures I have been by this place many times. I live in Cortland, Ohio about two miles from this barn. Great shots.
There are some cameras you can't have the vibration reduction on when using a tripod. It must be turned off or the focus will be off.

Will you share how you get such beautiful flower pictures?
Your flower pictures are beautiful. Will you please share how you get such beautiful images?
That is correct and good information.
I feel a close-up should be 1x2 to 1x10 or the subject should be about 2" to about 10" on a full size censor.
I'm in charge of an close-up group. A lady sent a picture to be posted of a swan with several inches of background around the swan. I don't think this is a close-up but I'm not sure.
So does that mean the subject would be from 2" to 10" in height and fill the frame?
So what is the max size of the subject. A tight shot of a complete horse would not be a close-up would it?
What are the guide lines that make an image a close-up? When would it not be a close-up?
You found a great flower with nice color and a very nice arrangement of leaves to shoot. I would rotate the image 90 degrees clockwise to mage it a vertical shot. It would give the image a better feel. It is best to shoot flowers on an overcast day or use a diffuser to shade the full sunlight from the flower. When you shoot in full sunlight there is too much contrast and the bright areas get blown out. When parts of the petals are blown out you can't appreciate the true colors of the flower. The background in a shot like this is very important. You did great with this shot with a great out of focus background. In close-up photography the background can be more important than the subject. Backgrounds make or break an image. Just my thoughts.
I never cease to be amazed at Gods beautiful creation.
Found these images very interesting. I was born and raised in northern Indiana County on a small farm not far from Glen Campbell, which is north of Indiana. Was wondering what your connection is with Indiana?

I use and like B+W or Nikon. You're only as good as your weakest link. Don't try to save money after buying a good lens then put a junk filter on the front. I purchased a Nikon 200mm macro lens, around $1800.00 now I don't mind spending $150.00 for a B+W polarizer after spending that amount for the lens. By the way I use a polarizer on most all my shots.
