But am also wanting a 90 D as well not instead of But in Addition too the 5DSR !! and I'd Prefer to Deal with one Vendor for both to Reduce the amount of BS # Should Problems arise ( Doubtful as I'm Going to buy New ( Unless Canon Gets some more Refurbished 5Dsr Caneras in stock Doubtful !!!!) And Right Now 90D's. ( USA Warrantees) models are In Short Supply ar a Couple of Vendors!!! Im Gonna Try Too hold out until About 01/18/22 But Its Getting Harder too Hold out ? My main worry is That When The 90d's comes back in the 5 DSR'S will go out of Stock and may or may not be Available ? Oh well Hopefully It Will all work out ? So I’m trying to be upbeat and positive, however, with Nikon’s continuing problems, I am concerned that my beloved Nikon will go the way of Olympus. I’ve been a Nikon fan ever since Canon went to the EOS system, requiring us to upgrade all of our lenses. Until then, I used many different camera platforms, including SpeedGraphics 4x5. Once I switched, Nikon has always served me well, and I never saw the need to switch to Canon or Sony. However, times are changing, and it remains to be seen whether Nikon gets it’s act together or not. While Japan’s industry usually makes reliable decisions, that is not always the case.

I love my Nikon equipment. I’ve owned, and still own, a number of Nikon bodies, but my main bodies are the D610 and D850. But, my biggest investment is in Nikon lenses. My opinion has always been that the lens is the heart of any camera system. Bodies change and improved, but lens are a long term investment. That is, unless the entire system fails, such as the case if Nikon is no longer a competitor in the market.

So, if there are any Nikon executives monitoring this forum, please do not allow my beloved Nikon to go the way of the dinosaurs. Make good financial decisions and get your engineers off their butts and continue to innovate and improve. I know I am just one person and my support of Nikon won’t be a difference in whether Nikon is successful or not, but understand that I once lived in Japan and I understand the Japanese Psyche better than most Gaijin. Please don’t disappoint me and the thousands of Nikon supporters who have faithfully stuck with you for many years. Kimi nara dekiru yo!

There was a similar thread yesterday where posters described their backup strategies. At one time, I used my 128gb iPad for backup, but abandoned that approach for a RAVPower WD-03 filehub, which tho effective was slow to backup large raw files. Last year, I bought a WD-09 upgraded filehub that can backup a SD card to a portable disk or SSD at the push of a button. On a recent workshop, I was backing up up to 300 30+ gig raw and small jpeg duplicate files in less than 15 minutes. If I wanted to share one of the jpegs, I simply connected my iPad via Bluetooth to the filehub. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

I’m thinking of upgrading my iMac 27” to the new Catalina 64bit OS. I’m currently running Mohave. I’m wondering if anyone out there can help me understand if the OS change will lead to major compatibility problem using my SilverFast 8.8 software to scan slides and negative using my Epson V850 scanner? Do I also need to upgrade the Epson software and drivers? I’ve searched Epson’s site and it is not clear to me that there is a 64bit driver for Catalina. Any advice and assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi All, this has been an ongoing problem in various forms, so I have to believe it’s me, and not the camera. I shoot primarily portraits, and Sony has recently replaced my A7RIII during the warranty because after several attempts, the auto focus issue could not be resolved. I use back button focus, and the initial issue was that during a shoot, after about 100 shots or so, the camera would not respond when I pressed the button. Now, with the new camera, and most noticeably when I have a Godox remote flash trigger on the hot shoe, about 30% of the time, the camera will just hunt and hunt and not lock on. This most recently happened while using a Sony 50mm f1.4 close to wide open, with flexible spot focus mode set to medium. There was plenty of light in the room, and the model was looking right at me, and still the camera could not find her eye when the button designated for eye auto focus was pressed.

I currently have the most recent firmware updates for the camera and lens, and a cannot say for sure if this issue is happening with other lenses, but I’ll be trying that on my next shoot.

I called Sony tech-support, but they referred me to some articles that were not helpful. I Purchased the camera at B and H, and they’re currently closed for a holiday but will be opening on Wednesday, so I thought I would see if there are any Sony shooters there that have had a similar experience.

So, as I mentioned at the start, I have to believe I’m doing something wrong, because I can’t imagine two cameras in a row could be defective. This issue can be maddening when trying to get just the right shot and can’t because my expensive camera refuses focus, and the moment is missed. If anyone has a similar experience with this camera, or has any suggestions, I will be eternally grateful for any help you can provide. Thanks!
