I'd send the first.

And you know it depends on the judges.........

I can never figure out judges logic or reasoning.
I don't do contests.

True judges are the wildcard anytime they are involved. In our last club competition almost everyone scored middle to low and the judge said he really liked one of the lowest scores (Say What?!??).

I like the first image best. The subject is more clearly separated from the background. Also I can see more detail in has face and the separation between summer and winter coats.

Both are excellent bison shots.

My wife teaches Tai Chi at this center in Cleburne, TX. Due recent neck surgery she needs me to drive her to the classes. The center is in and old elementary school and several art works have been added on the property and to the building. Hera are la couple from the outside. The first is Don Quiote(?), I haven't had time to work on him to remove the background mess. I plan to use it to help learn combining LrC with Ps. The second two are of what appears to be a yard light since there is a porcelain light socket inside. The first one and the warrior are straight from the camera. The second stone house was produced using LR masking and playing around with sliders.

Thanks for viewing.

I have used Macs for quite some time and not knowing which Mac you use and the operating system I will offer a somewhat generic response.

First several years ago iPhoto became Photos. If it doesn't appear in the dock look under Applications for Photos and either double click the app or drag it to your Dock for convenience.

Second your images are stored on the hard drive under a folder called either Pictures or Photos. Access theme from the home drive icon, or in Sonoma 14.4.1 they appear under Pictures in the left hand menus.

Thank you to all that responded with their comments and opinions. First GAS isn't really involved..I am most concerned about debris that might find its way into the card compartment. I have frequently wishing a higher ISO setting was available. I would like to upgrade to a mirrorless system, but only if it makes financial sense.

For now I will either use the D7100 with the chip and possibly place tape over the chipped area when I go to a questionable area. In the future I will do the upgrade to the D7200 in the next year or so. I will also investigate the Z50 to see how it fits into my finances and current equipment.

Thanks again,
Bill

All of your lenses would operate on the Zfc since it is a dx body. Any full frame lenses would work also. Yes you would need the ftz, but you already know that. As to functionality derived from the body I'm not sure you would lose much at all. In exchange you would be setting yourself up much better for the future. There is a risk the Tamron's would have compatibility issues. Others may know more about that.

Thank you, I am looking at the Zfc over the Z50 since it has front and rear control wheels something I would clearly miss. And, yes, you hit my biggest concern of Tamron and Sigma compatability.

My Nikon D7100 has suffered a chipped door to the memory card compartment. Pricing a repair by Nikon it is comparable to purchasing a similar used body from KEH or MPB plus shipping to Nikon. I am tempted to step up to a D7200 for ~$100 more, largely for an improvement in ISO performance and wireless capability.

For a bit more I am also considering a Zfc. I know this would require also purchasing the FTZ adapter. Lookopng on line I am left wondering what functionality I would lose with this upgrade. I have several Nikon lenses:

18-135mm
18-200mm
70-300mm
35mm f1.8
50mm f1.8

Currently my workhorse lens is the Tamrom 18-400mm and I also have a Tamron 10-24. How would these function with the Zfc?

Thanks for your input.

I shoot a D7100 so I know there will be differences, but are you sure the mode (?) selector knob was set to M. This is the type of variance I see when using A mode and variances in the background appear. Your meta data will give you this information. A second thought is search through the menus to see if you need to set manual exposure in a menu as well as with the knob.

I vote for Busch since he produces books for specific camera makes and models.

Here are several more images taken during the eclipse. The first two were taken while we still had low clouds passing by. I was waiting for a clear space when I looked up and saw the crescent sun through the clouds so I quickly took several shots. The last is the crescent sun following totality.

Thank you, it was taken while sitting in a lawn chair shooting away. I had not replaced the solar filter as totality was just ending.
