Here is a short update on the light box I am building. I did retreve the fridge from the goat shed. Lots of clean up required but didn't take long. I did the prep and used white primer to put two coats on the inside and one coat on the outside. I was going to put a coat of satin white on the inside but decided to see what the primer produced first. I drilled two 1 5/8" holes over the shelf and the the area over the front of the box for top lighting. Now I have to build two brackets for mounting on the sides of the front of the box to hold lights. No Photos yet but will post some at the end of the day.

I have not figured out how to use this thing yet. I replied on the main forum instead of here. So if you have time you will find a reply there and in the future, maybe, I can get it in the right place.

I thought I put a post on here a week or so ago but must have done something wrong: the story of my life.

I remembered that I had taken an RV Frig down to the goat shed to store it as the compressor was no good. I kept it in case I could find a use for it. Guess what? I measured it and it may be perfect for the light box. It allows me to have options on how I present and how much I present. The question is: Should the background be in a matt finish or a gloss finish? I have lights that I use for shows that will fit right in an access hole that I can make with a hole saw.

I will post some photos soon.

I Remembered that I had an old refrigerator that came out of an RV. It is just the right size and using a hole saw I can place lights where I want them. The interior is white so I may have to use some flat white to cut down on the glair. We'll see if it works and post photos along the way.

Of course I agree. That is the whole idea of the forum. I have decided to build my own Light Box. There are many ways to exibit jewelry so I will be building one that is large enough to allow me some flexability. As with the 1901 Oldsmobile I am building, I will take photos of each step and have them available if someone wants to use them. There will be no fee or charge of anykind. Now, I may end up with something good or it may be a piece of crap and I will have to start over. But, I will keep at it until I get it. I am sure I will need help with lighting and I have no doubt that I will find it right here. Thanks for your comments.

I think it looks pretty good. I have a great friend who has a work shop in his back yard. It is always perfect and perfectly clean: everything in it's place. How? It is a place for him to go and watch TV and drink coffee. I don't think he has made anything in there in a year. My work shop? I don't want to talk about it.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply with some very good info. I will look at the table top as a good possibility but hope to see some plans before I make a decision.

I am new to Hedgehog and am very happy I found this sit. While looking for plans for a light box, I stumbled onto this site. Making jewelry is a part time business for me and brings in enough to help with retirement.

I am looking for plans for a light box so that I can shoot good quality Pics of my jewelry to be posted in my Web Store. I know nothing about light boxes or how to light them. So, if someone out there could help me, I would greatly appreciate it. I have wood working skills and have had two SLR 35 mm cameras and now have a digital Kodak EasyShare C875. I can move up to a better, more flexible camera, if necessary. On a Web Store, good photos are a must.

Thanks for the help.

Hello:
I am a new user. My interests include photography and goes along with my jewelry business. I make handmade jewelry and am in the process of building a Web Store. Good photos are a must. I found this site while looking for plans for a light box. I know nothing about light boxes so I really need some good plans. I have worked with wood for years so that is not a problem but lighting is a problem.

I use a digital camera; sorry but I don’t know the model. My wife is using my camera while on a trip to the mountains.

So, that is why I am here. I am looking forward to learning a lot about photography and feel like this is the place to get that done. Thanks for having me.

Hello:
I will make this short. I have a small jewelry business, more of a hobby than a business but photography is an important part of it. I am in the process of putting together a web store and must have great photo's for the net or it will fail.

I found this site while looking for some plans for a light box. I use a kodak digital camera. I don't know the model as my wife is on a tripe to the mountains and is using it. I guess the hardest part of this is figuring out what kind of lighting and where to place it is. I have worked with wood for years so that is not a problem.

I enjoy all types of photography and I like to learn. So I am excited about finding this site.

That is it.
