I know each of us have a place where we like to work. For most of us it's the kitchen table which never seems to get cleared off. For others it's an office desk or shop desk in the basement. Stuff just collects everywhere.
My good friend, Byron Van Zant, owns a leather shop in Vernonia, OR. He & his wife, Debbie, work hard to keep the doors open in this tough economy. I love to visit them just to say hi, pick up a custom T-shirt and drink a bottle of water.
Byron's desk pr work area is never tidy. :)

I love the sign above his desk.
I posted this on another photographic forum and a really picky dude responded that my color temperature was wrong on the shot. I asked him to look carefully at the incandescent bulb, florescent tubes, and three other light sources in that shot. It wasn't off, it was reality. LOL
I love the portrait--technically but more for the interesting gentleman.
Bob, when i grow up i want to be able to take photo's like you. How do you do it, every photo you post is awesome...

Really nice shots. I really like the shot of your friend. You really captured something.
I think it looks pretty good. I have a great friend who has a work shop in his back yard. It is always perfect and perfectly clean: everything in it's place. How? It is a place for him to go and watch TV and drink coffee. I don't think he has made anything in there in a year. My work shop? I don't want to talk about it.
I love it! It's clear, sharp and very warm...makes me want to go into that room to investigate every little nook and cranny.
:-)
Bob you got the gift,,great photo of Your friend, bet he likes it
Great shot Bob!...and by the looks of it he is a story teller and my suspicion is you've heard a lot of his stories. Thanks for sharing.

What a great portrait,Bob, I love it
Terrific portrait, Bob. Does he play Santa?
As always... these are great!
My fondest (and rarest) pleasant memories of childhood, are of the sounds, smells and closeness I felt with my Dad in his workshop.
Later in life, my first husband had a great workshop and we built birdhouses to sell (well HE built them, I designed and decorated them!). Another rare but pleasant bonding memory!
I can almost smell the scent of leather in that first photo... and your friend looks like a wonderful soul to spend the day keeping company in his workshop!
Thanks for sharing these!
