I understand in digital world, PP is like darkroom of yesteryears, so to improve the look of images PP is necessary ( others please correct me if it is not so). If you take Jpeg, camera does PP to some extent & is generally good enough. If you shoot RAW the details are really raw & PP has to be done , mostly. I write travelogues for journals & papers & for that purpose Jpeg is good enough. So I shoot many Jpegs of a place & a few RAW which I get PPd from a professional paying a fee & keep them for my collections. So you can decide to shoot RAW or JPEG or both. Maybe you can also take a tutorial to learn very basic tweaking/PP if need be.

Reminds a joke in the courtyard of a King where a line of culprits were to show the objects they had stolen & confess. The punishment being pushing up bottom whatever was stolen. When the turn of a man who had stolen a lemon came up he was found laughing hysterically. Asked by the king why was he laughing he replied." My Lord, I am thinking of the man behind me who stole a jackfruit !"

Linda said the ratios are also used in macro discussion. Can someone throw some light on that too ?
Thanks in advance.

Bruce, It may be too late to reply as I was away for days. But your act of kindness & care for others is worth appreciating & emulating. I feel the world goes because of individuals like you. My sincere appreciation for your kind gesture !

The noise of their grumble & murmur seems to be more annoying than the shutter of your camera.

I hit fairly close, well sort of close, well OK, not vary close with 182,163,155, but it still looks like a typical lion that we see here wandering around the neighborhoods of rural Florida! The color is a bit gray because the brown was applied at low opacity using the "color" selection on brush settings and the gray under coat is showing thru. I started with a brown picked from the official rgb recommendation.

These RIMO, not RINO, are Republicans in "Mane" only... They have been taught to hunt down the pythons and other alien species in Florida. My understanding is the T-Party is having them also trained to hunt down "illegals". The lions are being taught to know the smell of green cards and pass those folks up. My how resourceful and vengeful those T-Party Christians are I certainly admire them.

Thanks Dpullum for the info. Also the image now looks more like a lion. But I am not wellversed with photoshop but do understand the processing you made. Thank you again

Hi Dpullum,

If I am right, unlike African lions Asiatic ones rarely attack humans ! :) Or was I lucky ?
Thanks for the pp of the image. Nice to know how different it can become.

I don't want to play semantics, but I guess it depends on what's "good enough". You might have been a bit back focused, but considering you were shooting wide open into the afternoon sun, which also makes the viewfinder hard to see, I'd say "not bad". ;) Since this big guy didn't seem to be in any hurry, next time he wanders through, you could try stopping down maybe 2 stops and still get him at 1/250th sec. But that would also bring the background more into focus. You be the judge. :)

Yeah, I would try to experiment. That article is also informative. Thank you.
