Hi! We are going to the Galápagos Islands in May and I would rather not carry my Canon 5D MarkIII and lenses. Especially because we’ll be snorkeling and on a boat. I’m looking for a good compact camera possibly waterproof but not a deal breaker. I would love to hear about small cameras you have used for your adventures.
And any Galopogos photo advice would be awesome!

Like others have posted I think the photo is OK as is. But may I suggest you decide what you want to be the main object in the photo. Is it the beautiful lake and background or is it the subject with the lake taking important but second place?

If it was me I would move in closer to the subject and focus on him using a wider lens view and still have the lake in the background. Make sure your focusing square is on the subject and at f11 the background should still be in sharp focus.

Good luck with your photography. It looks like you are doing well.

Actually I didn’t have a lens hood on this day. And I agree it just isn’t sharp. I have spent time cleaning my lens’ hopefully I’ll have better luck as we are planning a road trip to some amazing areas. Thank you for your observations and I appreciate constructive criticism that’s how we progress.

That makes sense. I thought the entire photo should be in focus when I zoom in. Thank you!

Hi! I'm having trouble getting my people in focus in my landscape photos. I'm using a 24-70mm lens Canon EOS 5D Mark III.

I seem to get the depth of field and the landscape is in focus but the people are very grainy when I pull them in close.

What am I doing wrong? This is shot at 1/100 sec f/11 ISO320 24mm
