Compact camera for Galapagos trip

Hi! We are going to the Galápagos Islands in May and I would rather not carry my Canon 5D MarkIII and lenses. Especially because we’ll be snorkeling and on a boat. I’m looking for a good compact camera possibly waterproof but not a deal breaker. I would love to hear about small cameras you have used for your adventures.
And any Galopogos photo advice would be awesome!

You won't need anything longer than 200mm. I saw people rent 400mm 2.8's and regret it. You may be shooting down at subjects as they walk across your feet...like sea-lions on a beach. Knee pads are helpful. For snorkeling, I second the TG-6 or TG-7 recommendation. A Gopro with a floating handle might be good for stills as well. Enjoy!
