After suffering with a rather arduous learning curve with Microsoft 8 which came on my new dell computer (Amazon lied, they told me it had 7, they even supposedly checked with Dell to confirm), I came to one conclusion, Microsoft 8 sucks. I'm glad I kept my old XP computer at least I can still use it off line.
I think that rather than worrying about how many toilets there are in Africa, Bill Gates should go back to Seattle and design a decent operating system.

I have found several cameras and been unable to find their owners despite asking the manufacture to search their warranty data base.(they won't do it) and searching the various lost and found sites on the internet.
Here's a suggestion. The very first picture you take with a new camera should be of a card with your name and Pertinent information on it. Lock the picture so it can't be erased. The finder will then be able to locate you when he scans the pictures in the camera. Remember to do this with all of your memory cards.
For sometime I've passed this water fountain on my bike ride. It's always fascinated me. Today I decided to photograph it and share it with you folks.
It was cobbled together with no less than 49 (I counted them) fixtures and pieces of pipe.
As a foot note it took me several tries to get a decent picture depicting the intricate plumbing. Forcing the flash finally did the trick.

I think hanging and freezing take place when you attempt to view a video taken in high resolution with a processor that is too slow. The fix is to use a lower setting on the gopro camera or convert it to a lower resolution with a program like Format Factory. You can also view it on a TV with the HDMI port.
I haven't tried time lapse yet. One of the problems with this and close up is framing, since the gopro has no view finder or preview screen. (there is a preview screen is available as an accessory back.)
The gopro app. solves this and lets you use any device that supports wi fi as a preview screen.
Like you I was a bit skeptical so the first thing i did before taking pictures was to take the empty housing down as far as i could (about 20 fr. ) several times before i used it with the camera in it.
I have used it several times since i took these videos and it worked fine however like you I'm never quite sure I won't come up with a flooded camera.

Here's some pics taken with my new toy, a Gopro Hero 3 action camera. It has no view finder or preview screen so you can imagine how difficult it is to frame a subject. However the extreme wide angle lens (almost fisheye) is very forgiving. I'm looking forward to Learning and using the many features of this extremely small bundle ot technology such as wi-fi, time lapse, remote shutter etc.

I have an "if all else fails" suggestion. Seal your drive in a plastic bag an put it in the freezer compartment of your refrigerator. After an hour or so remove it from the freezer and see if it works. I know this sounds crazy but drives sometimes fail because some of the components lose their dimensional tolerances because of wear. Lowering the temperature is sometimes shrinks the components just enough to let your drive boot up one more time.
