I think both are equal. What you see in media depends on who is giving out the cameras for use on a particular show.

If I disagreed, I would have a "real" camera. But sometimes that camera phone comes in handy.

Yes, controversial, but I saw these reasons online from Peta Pixel.

1. Handling is not very good on a phone, but a camera is easy to hold, and it has controls that let you make changes easily.
2. The view. The viewfinder of new, mirrorless cameras shows you how changes in settings will affect the final picture. The flip-screen lets you get up or down shots more easily than when using a phone.
3. The flash. Although new cameras seem to be omitting the pop-up flash, it is possible to add a flash unit to the camera. That flash can also be used off-camera to put the light at a different angle. The best you can do with a phone is a small, weak flash.
4. The lens. A modern cell phone might have three separate lenses, but the quality and control aren't as good as what's available for cameras.
5. DOF and bokeh are also lacking in phones, compared with cameras. Selecting a different lens or aperture changes the results you get in the image. That amount of control isn't available with a phone.
6. Movement. The cell phone camera likes to be held steady because it takes multiple shots when you push the button. It's also difficult to follow fast action with a phone, especially considering the multiple shots it takes each time.
7. Selfies. Using the phone for a selfie means using the phone's forward-facing camera, the one with the lowest quality.

The narrator concludes by saying that cell phones are great for quick, casual shots that are going to be shared online, but a real camera will generally give better results.

I've said here many times, that I don't like using a phone as a camera because of the steadiness required while holding the phone away from my body. Holding it steady while taping the button is tricky. I don't always know if the picture has actually been taken. I have to keep my fingers away from the lens. Yes, these are all shortcomings on my part, but they don't apply to a real camera.

I suspect that some of you might disagree with this entire post. That's okay.

Went to use it last night only to discover there is no filmstrip option in Edit mode…only Catalogue mode. THAT’S CRAZY!

A search online appeared to verify that. OK, they’re in Ukraine, I get it. But how do you release yet another version with this important component missing?!

Without it you have to constantly click back and forth between Edit and Catalogue to bring in a new image. I work on entire albums at a time, not one image per edit.

Needless to say, I am annoyed and went back to my prior editing program.

I don't know how they could have missed that? I am impressed that they even bother working on it considering what they are dealing with.

It has almost been a week and some people still are without power. But the results were beautiful.

One thing about living near Memphis is the mid-south is when it snows you need to get out there quickly. Snowy scenes are fleeting.

This portion of road has some interesting curves. Cars go quickly on this road so I had to be quick myself.

I pass this lake every morning on my way to work. It has been cold lately but I did have to stop to capture this sunrise over the lake.

Yup, they're an "expert"... I'll bet.
Actually it's just their opinion or something they read on the internet.
Off if off.

Ask them to explain why.

So airplane mode basically shuts those down?

Battery life for a D500 is around 1,200 shots, and when the green light on the charger stops blinking, it's fully charged...what's the problem?

No problem. Just looking to see why I notice a drain. I think I understand a bit better thanks to everyone.

ONce I am done learning this camera, I will concentrate and not how many shots. I am not using live view, but fiddling around the menu, I do have the screen on quite a bit.

Thank you for everyone's reply. From everybody's input I will need to check out the gps, wifi bluetooth and make sure they are off. Someome suggested it is better to shut each off manually rather than use airplane mode. Is there an explanation for that? And I will have back up batteries. I will probably purchase two extra.
