Good catch!
I know of the Flinders Ranges from a book I read. A mining geologist, Reginald Sprigg, stumbled upon the largest bed of Precambrian fossils yet discovered. That period is now called the Ediacara. The area in Nilpena is an Australian National Heritage Site.

yes i have been to Nipena , Flinders ranges is a gold mine for Rock lovers and nature lovers , Arkaroola is even better a private reserve purchased by Reg Sprigg- Geologist, explorer, environmentalist and a founder of South Australia's oil and gas industry.... yes an interesting mix of a person lol ... an area well worth a visit

Re-edited this shot , not much luck involved with this one , knowing that it was Cold , early morning with just a slight breeze i was fairly sure on this birds flight path on leaving his rock , so i put myself right in it lol , i was not disappointed it did almost exactly what i expected him to do , love it when a plan comes together , large eagles need lift to get airborne and are basically lazy and dont like using their wings to do that , so a cold morning often sees them reluctant to fly 😂Wedge-tailed Eagle flinders ranges

He was replying to my statement about skydivers and Peregrines. Apparently, in his world anyway, skydivers can't meet the legal requirements for possessing the birds.

Oh ok thanks LFingar , that never crossed my mind , you can own Falcons here in Australia to if you have the right permits ... not what i would do , but the law says you can , sure its the same in the USA

Let’s be very clear here. Peregrine falcons are not pets! You must have a falconry license in the US to have one in your possession. You must be a licensed falconer to have any Raptor in your possession.

Its a Wild bird and it is in Australia , i do not photograph captive wildlife at all .... they raised 3 young that year and 2 survived .. keeping Raptors with or with out a license is abhorrent to me ...but i really dont know what made you presume this bird was captive ... it is wild and still is

imagemeister ... It was a nesting pair at a church that many of us Photographed over a couple of years , the church had a nest box on the steeple , one of their favorite perches away from the Kids was on the Weather vain , so i set up for incoming birds ....attached is the original image , as you can see i was a fair way away , Canon 7d2 with a 150-600 sigma sport ...so effective lens length of 960mm ... so the image i edited is heavely cropped and the pole removed .... i have many many shots of this pair ....hope that helps explain the story behind the image

Great captures. How long did you have to wait to get them?

i have been going every evening and sit for about 4 hours each night , these are a fair crop as i dont want to get to close to the nesting burrow , easy to tell if you are to close as they stop coming in with food for the young , but where i sit they just go about their business as i am not their , even had one snatch a bee above my head , so close i felt the wind from its wings , these are only five minutes from me so easy to go out each night ...these little guys fly 3000 plus km every year to breed in southern Australia , some come from as far north as Papua new guinea ... i am using a Canon R5 with mostly a sigma 150-600 sport

I have the R6 and am thinking about the 600. I am concerned about F11 but these are great shots.

i would consider the 800 it is pretty good , far better than i expected , it pushes ISO a bit high in low light , but in good light it is great ... i had a bit of rain on this trip and had to put it away and pull out my sigma 150-600 sport which is weather sealed ... when i saw these two lenses the 600 and the 800 f11 from mr canon i thought what on earth are you thinking ... had to eat my words they are far better than i ever expected ... you may be disappointing if always in low light .. i some times now have to step back to get my 6 meter focus , so a few down sides , but all in all it pretty darn good

Did you use a tripod? These shots are super sharp!! Nice going!

No always hand held for me , the light was fairly good this day allowing some good shutter speeds on the F11 lens ... i also have a 150-600 sigma sport when the light is not so good and a 120-300 f2.8 sport , but the Canon R5 allows for some insane ISO use

Very nice shots of a great bird. That tail! If you don't mind, did you shoot most of these birds on public or private land? I have often thought about coming to your area of Australia but am not sure of how easy it is to find and access areas where I might get the chance to take pictures like you have done.

These were taken at two National parks , both remote one is Hattah National park the other is Murray sunset National park .. Hattah is 480 km2 (185.3 sq mi) in size and mostly 4x4 country ... Murray sunset national park is huge at Area 6,330 km2 (2,444.0 sq mi) again mostly 4x4 country ...few services exorcist , its pretty much take your own every thing .. i am set up to camp in these remote places .. i spend 6 days at each spot searching for these birds , they are not easy to find in such large areas , habitat knowledge is a must .. but if your coming over you will find Australians help full on finding birds , there are also some birding tours in that area ... but at the moment we have pretty much shut out the rest of the world by closing our boarders ... hopefully that changes soon

Another rare bird i managed to find in the dry Australian mallee country , pretty well restricted now to just a few spots mainly in Victoria , fire having wiped out the remaining birds in SA back in 2014 , a few have since been relocated back into South Australia ... but a rare little gem

went out looking for this rare bird yet again in the Australian Mallee country where it is found in ever contracting habitat ... been doing this for five years now with no joy ... well this trip i found 5 in two different spots , 3 in one including two adults and 3 young birds and heard a male in another spot but could not find .... the ever retracting range of these birds makes finding them harder and harder , seem to now be gone from many places they could once be found ... last photo is a young bird ... taken with my Canon R5 and my sigma 150-600 sport on a cold wet day ISO 10000 ..
