The same function key that turned off your monitor should turn it on. Press the same key again.
Nice shot, thank you for posting.
The Sony SLT-a77 uses a mini type b connection, so I will continue to search for my orginal cable in case I decide to update the camera.
thank you for all the replies. I do have the pro version of Capture One for Sony, but I believe the a77 will not tether with any program. I have not been able to find my orginal usb cable from Sony, but since I am not able to tether there might not be a reason to do a firmware update. Photography is my hobby and my ministry, but not an income. If I do decide to get a cable I'll try the link provided by gwilliams6
Thank you all for being a part of Ugly Hedgehog. I didn't know where to turn for answers. This is a valuable learning experience. Note to self - Keep your orginal cables!
Thank you very much for taking the time to research and answer me. You are absolutely correct. I see by your link that my camera is not supported for tethering.
Thank you again.
I have a Sony a77, which I purchased it in 2012, and then in 2013 Sony put out an update to the firmware. My camera worked fine so I never attempted the update until recently. I tried on my laptop and failed, so I tried on my smarter and faster desktop and failed again. I am not using a Sony USB cable. Could there be a difference in USB cables? I throught that as long as the connectors are correct that one USb cable is the same as another USB cable.
Well the reason I am just now trying to update the firmware is because I am interested in try to tether the camera to Capture One. I don't see a tether driver on the Sony website so maybe I should just forget the whole thing.
What do all you suggest?
I had Adobe (LR & PS) for one year, but this year I canceled that monthly subscription. I bought Capture One for the same cost as my one-year subscription ( I have a Sony camera). I also have LightZone which is a free open source program. Check out YouTube videos on whichever system you want to try. The videos will shorten your learning curve. Photography is a ministry to me. I do not get an income from photography, but if this is your career, then buy Adobe. You can cancel after one year. The $120 for that year is a low cost for training you in photoprocessing.
Very nice and peaceful looking! Thank you for the post.
It's a very good conversion program for RAW files. Exposure, Contrast, White Balance etc... but it is lacking the effects of Lightroom. I have tried Lightroom and I noticed that I was not using the effects as much as the basic processing. I think I might just stay with Capture One. If you really like it there is a pro version.
I'm sorry I have not used Aperture however, I do have a Sony DSLR. Have you looked into using Capture One?
https://tinyurl.com/y9fyutyu . Search Capture One for Sony. It's free for sony and some have said it handles RAW files better than Lightroom.
