Does anyone know if the a6500 RAW files are downloadable in Aperture?

I'm sorry I have not used Aperture however, I do have a Sony DSLR. Have you looked into using Capture One? https://tinyurl.com/y9fyutyu . Search Capture One for Sony. It's free for sony and some have said it handles RAW files better than Lightroom.

Thank you; I have been considering this program. What has been your experience with it?

I tend to not mess with my photos too much. I first use Apple Photos edit program most of the time. For more sofisticated stuff I use Capture One. I have not upgraded that program to the paid full program. I find it relatively easy to use. I find that it easier than PS. It's free, so you have nothing to lose.

It's a very good conversion program for RAW files. Exposure, Contrast, White Balance etc... but it is lacking the effects of Lightroom. I have tried Lightroom and I noticed that I was not using the effects as much as the basic processing. I think I might just stay with Capture One. If you really like it there is a pro version.

That would probably depend on whether or not Aperture is designed to process Raw files or not in addition to whether your version of aperture is later than or has been updated since the a6500 was released. I don't use Aperture but feel confident in saying that all processing programs that work with Raw files within any operating system (OS), Windows, Mac, Linux, etc., whether or not they will handle any Raw file depends on if the program has been either released or updated after a particular camera was initially released. The people to ask for a definite answer, rather than your question being answered by a group of people who do not know and yet reply by diverting you to another piece of software, would be your Aperture support people.

Capture One is a great program. The free edition has the most common tools, the pro version for Sony is the all the bells whistles that CO gives. Sony released their own program in Nov 2017 called "Sony Imaging Edge." It is free and can do many things.

Not sure, but the best application for editing Sony files has to be Capture One. You should try the free trial. Then download the Pro version for Sony - it's about $70 or so. Worth every penny and more.
