The PSA test is only a tool to indicate the possibility of prostate cancer. I am a prostate cancer survivor thanks in part the PSA test.

It is a good tool that men should start in their 50's starting by setting a baseline and make annual checks, more often if you develop symptoms. Along with the PSA test the doctor will also do a digital rectal exam and between these two test will determine if a biopsy is necessary. The biopsy will determine if you in fact have prostate cancer.

Your physician should discuss the various treatment options, suggest you even seek a 2nd option and after all of that you can make an informed decision.

Thanks to the PSA test and early detection as a starting point I am 100% cancer free survivor.

Hi, I have done a search and couldn't quite find what I was looking for. My partner is thinking of buying the sx60, one of the things he wants to do is take close up photos of mushrooms, which are often in low light situations, but he also wants to have a good depth of field behind them. Is this possible with this camera? Thank you for your help.

Anne

Hi Ann, I have a SX60 and have done some close ups in lower light. It will do ok if you tripod it and either use a remote release, the timer or use a Android phone as a remote release. Of course you don't have to worry about your mushrooms moving and blurring the image.

Had one for a week. Went to review photos. An icon popped up saying unidentifiable subject. The it proceeded to wipe out all my pictures. Boxed it up and returned it to canon for a refund. Plastic Toy.

Hi Wesso, so many factors can wipe out a memory card on any camera or for that any device using a memory card. Static charges being one of the worst offenders, handling cards, shutting down the device before it has completed its save etc.

As far as capabilities and photo quality of the SX series of cameras they are very capable of excellent quality of course short of SLR's but look at some of the photos Linda from Maine has posted. Her work is fantastic with an SX50 and equivalent to a SLR.

LOVE my SX50 and from what I've read it is better than the SX60 check back the last week or so for some comparisons

I have both SX50 & SX60 and the SX60 is every bit as good as the SX50. The SX60 has a few features and controls not on the SX50 I like a little better.

Even though the SX60 is worth the money if I was on a limited budget I would take advantage of some of the good deals on the SX50.

I'm afraid that your grossly negative & biased comments fade into insignificance, when compared to the positive comments & praise from masses of SX50 owners, including myself. Are you so completely full of yourself that you believe that you are the only one who is right in your assessment, & everyone else is wrong? After viewing your photos, it does prove one thing--it confirms that you are a lousy photographer.

Eastwood Lake has a family of Bald Eagles. 2 nesting pairs near the lake. They and the young ones may be seen fishing the lake at times.

Thanks Joe and Bob, once I got in the right section of my bird id book I found a lot about them. I have never seen one before. I am somewhat familiar with hawks and eagles and from the distance I was the size of it appeared to be the size of a small hawk and when I zoomed in on it I saw the straight beak and then I didn't think it was a hawk.

Thanks Bob, I was looking in the wrong part of my bird book. First time I have ever seen one in my area.

I was out this morning and observed what I thought to be a hawk. It is about the size of a Peregrine Falcon. I have looked through some of my bird id books and don't see this one. Anyone know what it might be? Thanks for checking.

I feel the image quality is better on the SX50 than the SX60. That being said, the SX60 has a better AF, slightly longer reach, wider wide angle, wireless (that actually works well with the new Canon IOS app, and it fits larger hands better. For myself, I prefer the SX60 overall.

I totally agree with you Harold on the wireless. I have had the Nikon wireless app and it continually locked up. I have yet to have the Canon (Android) app lock up and it works great evening zooming out from remote. I have both the SX50 & 60 as long as I shoot at the equivalent settings the seem to be equal and if you zoom out more than the SX50 is can go I will see some degrading of the image quality which I would expect. Both great cameras for what they are but I do like some of the features on the SX60 better, the thumb wheel being one of the best.

what setting is best for shooting through glass ? It seems there is no mountain or scnc button - Thanks for your help in advance

Hi snoops, The best way is to shoot in manual focus mode. If you shoot a lot like that you can always save your settings on C1 or C2. Set up near infinity. I set my focus at infinity and move slightly back off infinity.

After a disappointing experience with my current camera last weekend birdwatching with my wife, I purchased a P900. My initial impression is very favorable. The weight alone is reason enough to make the change. I would appreciate some advice on purchasing accessories. I'd like to have an extra battery and SD memory card. My questions are as follows:

1. There is a big difference between the cost of the battery from Nikon and what's offered on Amazon. Is the Nikon battery significantly better than the Amazon offering?

2. Is the speed of the memory worth the extra expense of the of 1000X over 600X?

Hope you enjoy your new P900, I have been looking at info on them but our local camera shop has not received them yet and have not been able to put my hands on one. I have a P500 which is similar with less zoom.

1. I have both the Nikon battery and the same battery in a Promaster battery. You can not tell the difference between them and the number of shots are equal. The only thing I can't say for sure the life time of the battery. I have had both batteries for a year and you can still tell no difference.
2. Extra speed is well worth the difference if you plan on shooting rapid follow up shots or if you plan on shooting HD video the faster will be better. The slower memory cards will work but you may miss some shots.

Very nice set which demonstrates the Macro capability of the SX50 & 60. I have backed off the distance, used a tripod and zoom out with my SX60 and you can get some greater depth of field if desired.

By the way, is that a little mouse in #2 staring up at you? Cute.

Nice shots with you SX60. Curious if you recall what zoom range you shot at. I missed shots of a Osprey flying not being able to track it in time. For BIF I never use the digital zoom and usually try and shoot between 50x to 65x using the view finder and still have difficulty tracking my shot.

Thanks for sharing this link. You would think they had some pretty sophisticated camera gear from some of the images.
