As a Picasa user for my organization of my photo files, google keeps infringing on my files. What do you all suggest as a photo organizer. I liked the Picasa, because it would let me name and date the files, organize them by year and subject. But google keeps grabbing them and mixing all the photos into their own ideas. Would like something that keeps them off the Cloud.

ALWAYS!!! Fed-ex and UPS both have destroyed stuff for me—but they have been good about taking care of issues. Make sure you pack it according to their “guidelines”. I had a packaging store do a lense for me—UPS dropped it, then didn’t want to cover it. Then I sent them the receipt where their store packed it. End of story.

Wise words—There are collectors out there, and don’t let them beat you up on value!!!

How very sad rcarol. My heart goes out to you. I too lost my partner of 30 years at the end of June. The title words resonated with me enough to click on this link. I feel over the years I came to take her and our relationship for granted and am now left with some considerable regret. So in my case it is true. I didn't completely appreciate what I had. In the words of Joni Mitchell: "Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got till it's gone."

Ditto. The problem today seems to be we get caught up in what’s going on in the world, that we forget to take care of the most important things in our lives.

Thoughts and prayers. We have lost too many because of these issues that should have had a solution.
All I can say is I understand from from experience with friends, but I still will never understand.

Also, I have had some pleasant surprises when grandkids are looking over my shoulder at their pictures from the past. When you least expect them to be appreciative, it is “Gpa, thanks for taking that picture.”

Thanks. Our Granddaughter is on the cheerleading squad which was more fun to watch than the football team. Do I sound prejudiced?

Nope, but my mentor told me to not only get pictures of the field, but get some pictures of the audience or cheerleaders also. He quoted. The thrill of victory, the agony of defeat. Memories. Documentation of the event, good, bad, and even ugly.

A good photograph, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. That being said, I prefer the original with all its faults to this cropped version. It’s just a matter of personal preference.

Exactly!!

The other comments, if rather blunt, are technically right, I suppose. But I like the moodiness of the scene. And their pose, with arms around each other, says ‘secure,’ ‘in this together,’ ‘committed.’
It’s natural. The groom’s stance conveys strength, protection. I see them admiring the beauty and power of the sea, perhaps looking to their future together. I don’t think every wedding shot has to have the couple gazing lovingly into one another’s eyes (though I hope you have some that do!).
Yes, fix dust, horizon. This is not a traditional wedding pose, but it feels ‘real.’ I’ll be interested to see other shots.
(I’m no pro. I wouldn’t want to be a friend’s official wedding photographer. But I often take casual photos, surreptitiously, at friend’s events. Sometimes I catch a moment, an expression, a detail that is a bit different. I give them a cleaned-up set on a flashdrive just as another perspective. )

These are beneficial comments, not critical to like others who border on the the extent of being rude. There is always something that can be improved about a photo, but like falconer, I like the moodiness of the scene. This picture will be one the bride and groom will treasure whether it retouched or not.

As someone who has continual issues with cards, here is what I do. I keep receipts, track the age of my cards and return them regularly on normal shopping trips. Also been known to buy identical cards 1 week and return the older ones 2 weeks later. I think the manufacturer builds then with an expiration date so you have to buy more. By doing this, no more lost photos------

My experience, if a hedge fund is buying them, they are history. Hedge funds have nothing in their goals but to drain a company dry.

I grew up with a federal enlarger. Parents visited family in Michigan in 1953 and I've always thought father bought it there and shipped it home to nz. They traveled in to England and returned to nz 1955. So all the family photos were printed via the Federal and I used it when I got older. Sadly it was destroyed in a fire but I have the steel trunk it was posted home in. That's my belief, he may have bought it here in nz but there timing is correct. Just seeing it here had brought back happy memories.
