I agree and every so often I just unplug from everything! I went camping to our favourite resort with our new 5th wheel trailer and there is no cell service or internet and that is a good thing. Lots of blueberry picking to replace it tho.

So I went to the Benro site you sent me, Queen Chatty and found it in a few secs. Open the Benro page go up to the white oval next to the shopping cart, it has a magnifying glass, type in A48TD click on the magnifying glass, it will be the second one down on the page. I don't know if they are including the feet at $89.00, but Adorama has it on sale with the feet, and you can buy it now. B&H is sold out and waiting for stock, you can order from them but it might take time. You will have to buy a head for it. Good luck
So I went to the Benro site you sent me, Queen Cha... (show quote)

Thanks...I can't believe the price...awesome!! I think I will get the model that has flip locks instead of twist type tho. I have flip locks on all my other models and find it faster for setup time.

1. maybe lens Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 DC

The wife says no more money on camera stuff, so I have to be able to present a good story so she will change her mind or it is keep what I have and be happy.

Camera: eos 5d Mark iii

I say you should keep what you have and be happy!! You have a MarkIII, wish I had one and could because my hubby lets me have what ever I want but I also want to have money in retirement lol So my MarkII is my keeper. You have really good lens choices at present time. Does your wife have the equivalent amount of money spent on items of her choice? Are you being realistic in the need for the new lens? Do you have excess money to justify the purchase?
I love all the joking around in here fun reading but in reality I know this question would not have been posted if you didn't care about your marriage.
Try saving for the new lens you want..to be sure since you don't know which one to buy and that would be horrible to get one and it be the wrong choice I would see if you have a friend that has a lens you could try or rent the lens you think you want and that way you would be sure. It is amazing how much money we spend with no effort in thought...buying movies, lunches, clothes ect...try cutting back and starting a lens fund. That would show your wife and then you both could WIN!!

Congratulations!! I know that feeling, just ordered the 5D MKIII myself popped for three day shipping, and the little brown truck will be here Monday.
Extremely excited for you!

Congratulations JazzySam I am sure you will be very happy with your choice.

I wasn't jealous because I love my Canon 5D mark II until I read the above comment. I wish i could justify purchasing a Mark III LOL!

No problem. I know a lot of forums allow you to delete your own post but I did a search on this forum and that is what I found. No biggy tho it doesn't bother me to ask if I need to.

Not trying to be flippant but I rarely fill up a card in a day, actually once at an air show but that because I forgot to format it before I went and it was about half full, I used to carry more than one card but do not anymore as my compact flash will give me about 1500 jpegs on my 50 D.
Also, those SD cards are not very heavy :)

I always carry extra cards not because I might fill one up but I would never want to be stuck in a scenario where the card screwed up and I would be left with no card to shoot lol! I always have a camera bag with me so it is not a problem to have extra gear....even if I am hiking I have a back pack.

Well if I was rich I would get one just for the video. Pretty impressive focusing. That is one thing I wish my 5D Mark II had better capabilities. I don't shoot enough video to justify getting one.

I am trying to stay in manual and figure it out. That said if I can't get it right I go in auto or a scene mode and take the picture then look at how the camera set aperture and shutter speed. It helps me understand the logic behind it. I can then move back to manual and work through the settings.

That is actually a good way to help you see what camera uses and then to learn more from that. I would suggest Program mode tho. It is just a step above using full auto as it lets you see what the camera would choose and be able to tweak the settings.

Program AE works similarly to the Full Automatic exposure mode, but allows more control over the exposure variables. Aperture and shutter speed are automatically selected by the camera, but you can bias the exposure to larger or smaller apertures by turning the Main dial, which will change the combination of aperture and shutter speed so as to maintain the same exposure value, but with a different combination of aperture/shutter speed.
