If like thousands of other photographers you take pictures for yourself. Then just go out and take all the images you want. Who can say that this or that is wrong or its not composed / focused correctly. It is your picture and however you want it is the correct way for you. If you want to produce commercial photographs then get some professional advice. But never loose the image YOU want. There is no better way to learn than by doing. Go for it!
