My Canon T3i operates in such a fashion. I use BBF even on a tripod and the remote fires the lens. I can also use a half-depress to focus and then complete the depression to activate the shutter.

You must have a different T31 than me. With the back focus button turned on in the Functions menu, I can half press the cable release button and nothing happens no auto focus, completely pressing the button will take a picture but not focused. I turn off the back button focus then half pressing the cable release will let the camera auto focus and a full press will take the picture. You can as you say use the back focus button to focus and then use the cable release to take the picture.

My watermelon vine reached the fence and beyond, I know some feisty teenager will pick this one as soon as it's ripe.
reminds me of times 55 years ago when all of us teenagers would go down to river and throw a party and some of the boys would go on a watermelon raid to get a favorite from the local farmers.

Have to keep an eye on this one.

That's amazing. If he eats them as well, you can reduce your feeding bill. :-D

I have 5 cats and they eat about 30 pounds of food a month, they will eat part of what they kill most of the time they bring their kills to me and when they are not looking I dispose of the remains. Rambo is the hunter but his little sister, Blackie, will catch a squirrel on the ground once in a while.

That second shot says it all. :-D Very cute. Does this one ever catch any squirrels?
Thanks for looking he is a true hunter he catches about 1 a week. He has no fear of height will chase them to the top of the tree.
I have seen him jump up in the air and catch birds about 4 feet high. He catches bats, frogs, snakes and just about any thing that moves.

Dan,
Without mentioning what camera make and model you have, it's difficult to answer, other than a generalization. If you have a setting that allows you to use the camera in manual mode, then ISO, Aperture, and Shutter speed are capable of being set.

He did list his camera in a latter post read all before commenting

I have the T3i also and to make changes:
Iso is changed by pressing the button (ISO) and turning the dial next to it.
Shutter speed is changed by simply turning the dial by the (iso) button
Aperture is changed by pressing and holding the (AV) button and turning the dial by the (iso) button.

Right after a thunder storm I noticed this little fellow in my pecan tree, I went and got my camera and when I got back he was in the same position. I took several shot of him and he never moved. Must be thunder shocked.
