I have Windows 10 Pro running on an SSD. No problems whatsoever.
When I am working on CAD on photo processing, I copy the files to the SSD beforehand.
I installed the CAD & Photo software on the SSD drive. All other applications are installed on a regular hard drive.
SSDs do have limited read/write cycles, but I don't many of us could actually run one to death

Some people describe Grey Squirrels as 'Rats with a bushy tail.'
As an old computer guy (since 1965) I always make a copy of any file on a separate drive before editing. With today's inexpensive, and very large portable USB3 drives, this is now a very practical way to protect your valuable data (images.)
A program may not destroy original files, unless some hardware or software problem occurs while running that program.
For $100-$150 you get really inexpensive protection.
We should have a backup copy of anything valuable before working on it.

Thank you for all the good advice.
I am interested in doing some wildlife photography and need a suitable lens for this. I would like to be able to shoot at 250'-300'. It seems that my choices may be quite narrow. I need to keep the price <$1000. Any suggestions are welcome.

Being a diabetic, I wear nothing but SAS Pathfinders. Unfortunately, they are no longer manufactured, so I am looking for another shoe.
I could be wrong, but that looks a lot like my Mock Orange. The smell is delightful
