I have an old Bescor tripob that I found at a sale a few years back. I can not find anything about it when I go to the Bescor site. Maybe someone knows about it. I fixed it to use with my D300 although I think it is for viteo cameras. It is heavy about 6 lb, and maybe more stable than my cheap tripods. "Its professional fluid metal model# is TH 660 Metal Alloy pan head. heavy duty light weight I may not be getting the info in the right order." Thanks EJK

Thanks again swampfox.were did that name come from? The price is good on the tripod you bought so will see how things go. Yes there are those here on the hog that do help. I have been enjoying everyone's input. I am learning I need to get the movement out of my pictures. So hopefully once I get a better tripod I ll be happier with my pictures. Thanks ejk

Photosart, Is this all I would need to get up and running? Head and all?. the one I looked up from the link you sent would be around 400.00. I hope to buy one that will be my last as I have three that are not good. I had no Idea that they had so much movement untill I could see it when it was dark. So Maybe this is going to help my pictures be sharp. when I see a really sharp picture It makes me want to do better. Thanks

Wow! What fun. I liked the part were someone carried your 20lb for you. What takes you to so many differnt places? I have gotten some neat ways to go with getting set up here at home and I still need a good tripod for travel. I will be leaving on another birding trip next week. My sister and her husband who live in FL will come and we will travle to CL and come back to CO. We always have a great time. I just wish I had my new tripod. I did go to Hastings and bought 2 book. One was understanding exposure by Bryan peterson. The other one is The Digital photography book by Scott kelby. I will read them on the trip when I am not birding. They were recomened by some on this Form. EJK
