They are now talking about Great Lakes Tsumanis (meteotsunamis), as the climate changes caused by fast moving convective storms able to push water down and ahead, forming a tidal surge.

Lake Michigan is the only Great Lake that does not border on Ontario.

Letting the battery discharge completely and recharging fully, doing that three or four times, and the battery very often will give you proper readings again.

I thought it was because it didn't have a "chip" in it that the Canon batteries had. Other than that,I have no problems with the after market batteries. I have two Canon and one aftermarket battery that I use with my 60D and 7D.

I am shooting a lot of live view now because of bad eyesight, and batteries are being eaten up. I have a Canon 7D. B&H sells the 7D battery LC-E6 for $67. I just saw some LP-E6 batteries on Amazon for just $25 with the claim that they fit the 7D. Do you think it is safe to buy the cheaper batteries? I'm on a tight budget, but don't want to risk harming the camera.
Thanks in advance.

The only problem I think you may have is a false reading on the charge left in the battery.

No such lens as a 12-24mm from Tamron, that would be a Tokinas lens. Tamron does make a 10-24mm which is a fine lens, and a new G2 version of it was just released. The Sigma is the slowest focusing of all these lenses and also has the worst CA. The Tokinas 11-20mm is a fixed F2.8 aperture and probably the best overall choice in this range, albeit also the most expensive of them.
Unfortunately for you, your Pentax mount takes away some of the choices in these aftermarket lenses.

MT, I respect your opinion and that's why I have to ask. Why is speed in focusing so important with a wide angle lens?

It seems a lot of you refer to a "rapid shoulder sling" for keeping your camera ready during a walkabout. What's a good, moderately-priced shoulder sling I might purchase? I'm not necessarily looking to spend $75 on a sling and it seems there are a lot in the $20 range. Are they any good or should I spend the money for one that won't drop my camera on the ground as an occasional customer review complains about? If it makes any difference, I'll be hauling around a Nikon D5500 with a 55 - 300 mm lens which adds a couple of pounds. Thanks, all.
