You also might want to look at the Tokina 11-20mm f2.8.

I have the Sigma 10-20 f/4-5 and couldn't be more pleased with the images this lens produces. I purchased mine in like new pristine condition at substantial savings off of ebay. If memory serves, it lists for $500, and I got mine for a little over $300. Best of luck in your quest for a wide.

Wide angle lenses work better on a full frame camera. On a crop sensor, you would like to go for the widest. Some results are different with various crop sensor cameras. Read reviews on both. You want sharpness before width. There's only 2mm difference between the two lenses. Not an awful lot.

I would go the widest 10-20mm. Tight spaces need the width. I am sure you have other lenses that cover the longer lengths.

Your focal length for a 4/3 d's camera generally goes up by 50%.
If I were in your shoes, I'd choose the wider of the two.
To optimize the lens,I would probably go up 2 stops whenever possible.
Enjoy!

The Sigma is my go-to lens for wide angle work. I like it a lot. Also, since the K-3 is a crop sensor camera, at the 10mm setting you get ~15mm effective, while the Tamron only provides ~18mm effective.

No such lens as a 12-24mm from Tamron, that would be a Tokinas lens. Tamron does make a 10-24mm which is a fine lens, and a new G2 version of it was just released. The Sigma is the slowest focusing of all these lenses and also has the worst CA. The Tokinas 11-20mm is a fixed F2.8 aperture and probably the best overall choice in this range, albeit also the most expensive of them.
Unfortunately for you, your Pentax mount takes away some of the choices in these aftermarket lenses.

. Either one will work, however neither will be sufficient is some cases. I would plan to take several series with the intention of stitching them later. There are many interior moments when neither of these options will capture the scene before you. The Pantheon is one example. So is the Coliseum.... or the view from St Peters.....
