I have a gannet colony 15 min from my home , they are amazing flyers but their landings always amuse me , its a drop in vertically , and wow be tide them if they are an inch out, the others will peck them . I used to fly para gliders amongts them , its pretty awesome.
Don
yeah, way cool, return a damaged potential bomb by US post.
Try buying a lipo or LiFe battery out of Hong kong at the moment , it will only go by courier post now due to fire potential.
I used to buy heaps of lipos from Hobbyking, now its a nightmare ,but the LiFe are safer , and can take a flattened battery in its stride.
I have pulled a few apart to resolder broken tabs , but they are dangerous, for anyone whos not been shown how
Drop it into salted water for a week and then dump it. it will froth at first , but it wont catch fire , and safe to dispose of.
have a look at the skywatcher 125 mak cas , you dont need the goto, option
I used mine for years and only just sold it recently
dh 100 vampire. not viper we had them in new zealand as well
These birds " Rosella" turn up at ths time of year searching for the nice sweet branch on my neighbours tree, he screws himeself into all shapes to get it
Thanks I looked but tea tree flowers are small , and from what I can remember the branches all stem from the ground, this tree has big main trunk and the upper branches spread out quite high up the tree. the flowers on this tree are 5 to 6 inches long.
I dont think the tea tree grows a pod either, the native birds here strip the pod back and have a great feast .
tuis, Rosella, starlings, wax eyes, gold finch seem to be what it attracts here in Auckland.
Don
Hi this tree is in my neighbors property and when its in fruit, which is a pod of sorts , native birds are attracted to it.
Can anyone id it please. the tree is about 25 feet high and an open flower ,
is about 5 inches
Don

The time was 8 at night , really dark, but misty high cloud, the lens is a Sigma 150- 500, last nights shot at 400mm and the night before at 500mm, and I looked at the moon through the binocs and thats how it looked .
Weird I didnt known there was a difference, it has to be the angle we look at it from different parts of the world.
Someone else posted a moon pic last night from USA and its not like mine at all.
Don
gudday from another kiwi. west auck,
Don
its weird how your moon is a different angle than here in new zealand, ours is tilted left to you.
I had never know this was the case until i posted a moon a few nights back and someone commented, well several did lol
Don
hi you have a misty sky light cloud .
light reflecting off it causing that glow ,
Don
I checked the moon again tonight it has to be different parts of the world its the same as last time only more moon.
lots of cloud about and the seeing is misty, so not as clear as athe first shot
just more moon same way up
You got me thinking now
I will go check the moon tonight and see how it is.
Its looking a sort of semi clear evening, we have had nothing but wind and cloud for weeks now.
That shot above was lucky I found a hole clear enough to get it.
Don
nope thats how it came out of my camera, and how I saw it.
its the same way my telescope see it as well
hey maybe its because we stand upside down here in new zealand
Don :XD:
