I have a gannet colony 15 min from my home , they are amazing flyers but their landings always amuse me , its a drop in vertically , and wow be tide them if they are an inch out, the others will peck them . I used to fly para gliders amongts them , its pretty awesome.

There were a couple of aborted landing attempts due to a well directed beak into the nether regions.

Thank you RegisG, if my fading memory is still working I think about 60 feet or so. It varied on the day between 50 to 200 feet to the cliff edge and even more from some of the viewing areas.
