My father was a WW I Veteran. He worked hard all of his life, even after he retired at age 66. The day he passed he had worked around our home, painting, planting trees, enjoyed his dinner, went to bed, and passed in his sleep. He was 80 years old. I never heard him raise his voice to me or my mother and he did not believe in using corporal punishment on a child. He lived a hard life and endured a brutal war and would help a stranger out without pause. I only wish that I was half the man that he was.

What a nice way to go! I hope that’s the way I’ll go. My Dad was a WW-1 Vet.

‘Way to go! It’s hard on Family and Friends but beats laying up in a hospital bed or nursing home just waiting to die.
My opinion anyway!

I was kidding. I certainly agree with your statement. My advice to Seniors is to think Positive and avoid feeling sorry for yourself.
It’s almost like starting Life over again!

What doesn’t go well with Polaroid sunglasses is a Polaroid filter on your camera
That combination CAN appear as though you still have the Lens Cap on your camera!

I think a lot of that is anticipation rather than reality! When I was 60 none of it was trie, best I can remember! Now that I’m almost 98, I wear hearings aids. Hang in there! Getting older is quite a ride!

Im almost 98 and I’ve never had a “seniors moment”! At least one I’d own up to!

Having had and building many machines, Windows XP followed by 7 were the best running OS that I have had on my machines. Went to 10 many months ago and finally went back to 7. Thought 10 would have had the problems worked out by now so I went back to 10 again. Still wish I had the 7 back or even XP. Seems to me that this is just a scam by Microsoft to convince all to upgrade to their "newest" systems to pad their wallets.

There’s a lot of misinformation being posted here mainly because Microsoft is so quiet to us.
Right now they have suspended Upgrades. Their policy, until they choose to change it, since Winsow 10 came about:
Windows 10 is the last Version.
There are two Major updates each year.
April and October with occasional security etc. in between.
The Second Tuesday of each Month is known as
“Update Tuesday” (Some software programs
Follow this same pattern. )
The October 2018 Major update has been withdrawn. Why hasn’t been divulged. Even after Beta testing it still had flaws. Microsoft only knows the answer.
If you use Windows 10 and have it set to
Auto Update you’ll get it, or at least an auto download and an email telling you when it will be auto installed. If the install time isn’t suitable it can be changed with a reply.
Windows 10 is a good operating system
Yep, it’s different but be persistent and learn something. You’ll be glad you did instead of living in the past!

Ah yes, I know about the space. It’s a habit I’ve gotten into. I post with some Europeans and a couple of Asians and started doing that to them.
I’ll try to stop it but I don’t promise!
Incidentally, I’m 97 years old and should know better.

You’re exactly right Andy !
I don’t think I have any problems with contractions. That’s why it bothers me when I see them misused !
This is off-thread from DSLR Vs. Smartphone so I’m ending it right now !

Contractions are the most misspelled words I see .... their, they’re, there, for example.
For me I like spell check but it don’t help because they are all legitimate words.

I’ve read all the posts as far as they’ve come so far. Interest ! Most have missed the point. Some have come close.
For some time now it’s been Nikon Vs. Canon.
Today it’s DSLR/SLR Vs. Smartphone Cameras.
Don’t you get it. These are a variety of TOOLS for making photographs. That’s why some of you call yourself Photographers, the rest of us are just “takers of pictures”.
I submit to you that any of these TOOLS in the right hands can turn out excellent Photographs.
I’ve seen some. But not from me !
I owned my first 35mm camera in about 1939.
I have SLRs and a Canon DSLR and 5 Lens. I also have an iPhone 7 Plus Smartphone but I lack one Gift - Composition. Yes, at this point I feel like it’s a gift. Oh, I occasionally make a pleasing to me photograph. Enuff!
