I was in the Air Force 66-70 - Air Operations/Tactical Air Controller. One of my instructors was John Northrup - WW2 he was a crew member on a B17 - he was shot down over Germany - he spent a year or so in a prisoner camp. He told me the weird thing about when he was shot down and blown out of the aircraft - woke up with an open parachute and his boots were blown off. Never figured out how he got out of the B-17 and what happened to his boots.

Korea - late 60s - 20 below - had to walk almost a mile to the Air Force - Tactical Air Control Center.
So cold I passed gas and heard it break when it hit the ground.
Very close to the Yellow Sea and the wind was COLD.
Super cool the black & white set it off.

I had a 1956 Chevy Belair when I went into the Air Force in 1966 - my Dad had a 1960 Chevy Impala.
He took care of my car while I was in basic training. When I got home he liked my 1956 better than his 1960 Chevy - offered to trade even. I declined - I liked those old Chevy's!!!

My Father-in-Law Louel Scroggy was on the original crew (Plank Holder) and was on the ship on VJ Day. He was on the crew of a 5" gun. He passed back in the 1990's. He was just a great guy and proud of his Navy service.
Prior to his time on Big Mo, he was on the Edward Rutledge that was sunk by a Japanese torpedo, he spent a long time in the water before they were rescued.
