Does a lens ever need to be tune up? Can a lens go out of adjustment and need a factory tune up?

I will be getting a sideline pass for a couple of championship football games and need some help. I have a 70-200mmf2.8 lens but I'm wondering what other lens should have to take some great picture. A 300mm or 400mm or a Sigma 120-300? Any help?
7d is what to use. Try to find the sweet spot in the gym for lighting. Use av setting and experiment
