That is not an east coast style of plowing. I don't think it's done here in the states at all.

Here's what I found on a different website:

The most intricate style of plowing is the `High Cut' or `Oat Seed Furrow'. This plow has a very long convex moldboard with a gentle twist and uses special shares to set up narrow, high crested furrow slices. In competition this plow is set within tolerances of a quarter of an inch.

Evidently we have an inferior education system as well, at least in your town.

Let's see now....the thread is about, "Obamacare Explained for the Low Information Voter".............and here we have "The Great Nagy" attempting to lecture us on the relative "merits" of "big government as usual", as opposed to capitalism, (with a brief, but somewhat un-intelligible bit about "welfare" thrown in for good measure!)

Way to go, Peter ! ( If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, you sure can baffle them with bullshit !)

I could use some suggestions for a funny caption for this image to use on a post card sized fridge magnet. Short is good! Thanks for any input - I've been setting up pictures for hours and out of inspiration!

Took a 2 week trip recently and when we returned home a found that a Woodpecker had drilled holes in the siding of my house. There houses all around but mine was singled out as being the most tasty. Terminix tells me that we do not have termites so I am not sure what he was after. I have taken pictures of Woodpeckers for a number of years. I have fed them, watered them, and loved them and now it has come to this. Some suggested a fake Owl. Others suggested a BB gun. I don't think I could commit murder to this bird. Perhaps a "hit man".

Tex, An exterminator told us that if there are the little beak-sized holes they're drilling for food which indicates termites. If the holes are larger they're trying to create a nest. Not finding a void at one spot they try others. You just lucked out by having the tastiest house!

I took these on Saturday. This scenery is on my regular driving route, and I finally took some time to stop for some shots. These were taken in the middle of the day. I hope to make this trip either earlier or later to catch better light and shadows...soon while the mustard is still blooming.

These grapevines are in small vineyards that sell to co-ops (I believe) or make a small quantity for their own use. Property taxes have gotten so high, landowners try to retain agricultural use exemptions to offset the cost of living here. Many used to raise cattle, but grapes are easier and cheaper.

Indeed. How does the rest of that go? I forget.

I believe it is:

Spring has sprung,
The grass has rizz,
I wonder where,
The flowers izz?

Nice photos....I am also a fan of #1.

Can you post a picture of the mount on these lens? That will help us figure out what camera they fit. Thank you.

I would also be interested in seeing the mount. They look a LOT like the old Minolta manual focus lenses I had for my first SLR.

I guess that's what you'd call it.

According to an internet search: "Although people who keep pet turtles tend to use the collective term "herd" to refer to a group of turtles, the classic collective term is a "bale of turtles."

We just had a thunderstorm go through our area. It had the works: tornados, high straight winds, large hail, and rain. I don't mean just little rain drops; I mean HUGE rain drops. Some were larger than a nickel. I tried several times to get pictures. They were all failures. I tried P (Program). I went to aperature and set it a f8. I went to shutter mode and set it at 1600. No luck. I could plainly see these drops falling. They seemed to be falling in slow motion.
I'm using a bridge camera Lumex FZ20.
What do you think?

I don't have an answer for what settings to use, but the consensus of how fast the rain is falling appears to be the following:

"At sea level, a large raindrop about 5 millimeters across (house-fly size) falls at the rate of 9 meters per second (20 miles per hour). Drizzle drops (less than 0.5 mm across, i.e., salt-grain size) fall at 2 meters per second (4.5 mph)."
