I looked up ugly in the dictionary and there was his photo.

You hit the nail on the head. It also states that the Duckbilled Platypus was created from left over parts. Walking Sticks were created from those left over parts. Those parts were just too ugly for a platypus. Bill

Great shot! Ugly is an understatement! Please let us know how you got the shot, camera/lens details and such.
Thanks for posting,
Thank you.

I believe I shot that at ISO 200, 1/60-sec at f/32. Bill

VERY nice Bill. Your last photo is an insect that doesn't show up much on boards like this. It's a webspinner, in the order Embioptera. They're usually highly gregarious and live together in silken tunnels. The enlarged foreleg shown in your photo is where the silk glands are.
Did you see a lot of them at the same time? Again, nice photos.
Thank you for the compliment and the info. I have only seen this one. Very jittery. Was only able to take two shots. This was the best one, and its not great. Bill

Imagine going into your local car bodyshop and saying you wanted your car sprayed in those colours!
Beautiful colours and not something I would want to appear on my salad
How would you describe those shifting colors to the paintshop?
I'm affraid with that mouth he wouldn't be after the salad, he'd be after you. Bill
I think it was TVR that had an amazing type of metallic colour that looked different from different angles :)
I've seen cars painted in such a way that they appear blue from one angle and red from another. Bill

I knew there was a reason i didin't like touching them when we would find them as kids! Nice macro though!
As a child I missed the experience of Walking Sticks. As an adult they are kind of neat. ugly but neat!!! Bill

We are unanimous in our opinion!
Your subject's ugliness over-shadows your exacting camera skill. Next time, pick something not quite so interesting, so comments will be about your fantastic camera technique.
<Bazinga!>
That's 2 Bazingas in 2 days. Its getting to be so hot in Texas, Walking Sticks are the only critters I can keep up with to photograph. Thanks.

Looks like the creature in the original "Predator" movie. In fact, it may well be where they got the idea!
I can see many earthly and deep space movies developed from these poses. Thanks. Bill

Egads! Forgive me, but what is it?? An actual walking stick, or some prototype for Alien5???Terrific captures, btw!!

Shooting macro, I wasn't prepared to shoot the entire Walking Stick. Yes, its a critter that looks like a stick with legs. Enclosed is the best photo I have of one. Its about 9 inches long. I've seen brown ones and green and brown ones. You may want to Google "Walking Stick." I hope it doesn't direct you to a cane. Bill

Excellent work. Did he ever make it back to the nest?

Thank you. I don't know. Something else caught my eye and I left it. This was against my house and I didn't see a nest...............yet.
